Collect function shows no errors, but fails to post data to new row.

Hi PA Community,

I wondered if someone could take a look at my logic and advise why this might not be working - even though no errors are returned.

My app searches a list for a course code or department. Upon selection of that Course code or department, an interactive form pulls data through from a SP list. (some of the data pulled is pre-populated, the rest has to be inputted via the app.)

I have 2 buttons:

Save: to save or update data  to existing records; This is a simple form submission function and works.

Add Data:   This is a Collect function (I don't have a Collection, I merely saw this being used to add records to new rows in a  SP list).

The Add Data button worked when I had no prepopulated fields. Now that 40% of the fields are pre-populated, data does not go into a new row.

As you can see, no formula errors with the above:

Any ideas why no data is being posted via the Add Data button?

Hi @Anonymous,

The Collect function should add a new record to local data collection named "Course Review Quality 2".

If you select "Course Review Quality 2" in the formula bar to preview the data within it (example below), what is displayed?

Thanks. Couple of things to try:

1. Add the following code to after the Collect function call (to show a notification message that the code has been executed) then click the button again to check if the notification is displayed:

Notify("Hello");

2. If the code is being called then use the Power Apps Monitor to see if there any errors or other clues when the button is clicked.

It's saying 1 row is collected

It should therefore be at the bottom of the 700+ rows. Nothing!

Is 'Course Reviews Quality 2' still showing blank / no rows after the monitor says "1 rows collected"?

So the Collection does now reflect the rows that were selected and tested (talk about synchronisation delays). However, they do not post to the SP list.
