Combine Edit Toggle and OnChange

Hi,

I have a Edit Toggle in my app to protect unwanted updates in my data. If users wants to update data, they have to click the 'edit toggle'. All fields have the displaymode depending on status of edit toggle. If on edit they can edit. If not on edit they can't.

On the fields in this gallery I have an OnChange which executes a Patch to Dataverse. That works as expected.

For instance the start date: Patch([@table]; ThisItem; { StartDate : DateValue(TextInputStartDate.Text)})

Now I wanted to add an option to mark the record as a 'concept'. Only after approval it will become 'final'. The concept, final and archive I have put in another table. So I created following OnChange:

Patch([@table]; ThisItem; { StartDate : DateValue(TextInputStartDate.Text); Version: First(Filter([@tableVersions];Version="Concept"})

The result is that if I put the EditToggle on Edit, all records in the Gallery will get the version concept, while only the changed startDate record get the updated startDate. Later I discovered the version concept for all records is already set as soon as I click on the EditToggle. Apparently that also triggers the OnChange for all records & fields in the gallery.

The EditToggle button is configured with OnSelect: Set(EditToggle; DisplayMode.Edit)

All fields in the gallery have the DisplayMode on: EditToggle

The reset EditToggle button is configured with OnSelect: Set(EditToggle; DisplayMode.Disabled)

Does anyone have a suggestion how I can protect my data for unwanted changes and make it possible to put changed records on version concept?

Consider using a view form and an edit form on the same screen with the checkbox to hide one form and make the other one visible using a context variable.  Something like the OnCheck: UpdateContext({viewf:true}) and the OnUncheck: UpdateContext({viewf:false}) and make the visible property of the view form: viewf and the edit form !viewf. 

I wouldn't patch each change.  Instead use a button to SubmitForm() and have the button's DisplayMode property: If(yourForm.Unsaved, Edit, Disabled) and its visible property !viewform.

I use a Gallery now, since it is a list with mostly around 20 lines. All lines must be visible at the start. It is an overview of the work experience per person. But if I update a line, that line must be saved as concept line (and keeping the original line as final). If I use a form I can only see that particular record, right? Or is it possible to have a form showing more than 1 record?
