Combining sort & Filter functions having a dropdown and searchBox

Hello all,

I have managed two different sort / Filter functions on a browse Gallery. Thanks to our members' help. They work fine on their own.

But I want to combine both of them and I have tried a lot but have failed.

1.     Sort/Filter with drop down

Sort( Filter( ‘MyList’, IsBlank(Dropdown1_1.Selected.Value) || STN.Value = Dropdown1_1

.Selected.Value ), Date, Descending )

2.    Sort / Filter with searchBox

Filter(‘MyList’,StartsWith(Title,TextSearchBox1_1.Text))

Please guide me towards right direction so that I can have success please.

Formula 1 is incorrect, you can't have IsBlank(Dropdown1_1.Selected.Value) in a filter as this is an If. This should do the trick:

Sort( Filter( ‘MyList’,Or(STN.Value = Dropdown1_1

.Selected.Value,StartsWith(Title,TextSearchBox1_1.Text))), Date, Descending )

Thanks. Apologies.  It is not working. The dropDown is not working at all & searchbox when selected with some text, the records flicker.

This should be the formula in the gallery items, i would remove the sort to check its working like below:

Filter( ‘MyList’,Or(STN.Value = Dropdown1_1.Selected.Value,StartsWith(Title,TextSearchBox1_1.Text)))

the dropdown should have its own table that displays the values that can be selected, if the dropdown is not working then the items property of the dropdown is probably incorrect, within itself the drop down should work. A way to test it would be to add a few of the drop down values in as a table like below, then test if the gallery updates correctly.

thank you for your help. Now there are no errors but strangely the drop down sort  works when used, however combined with another input from search box is not pulling correct records. At the same time when I first use search box it works however now I use drop down and again is not pulling correct records. Let me try few things.

Hi, this is because the gallery is already being filtered on the dropdown value, so if the search text is not in a record that is already filtered by the drop down value it will return 0 results. To get this to work you would need to change the dropdown control, allowemptyselection to true and change the gallery items to:

Filter(‘MyList’,If(IsBlank(Dropdown1_1.Selected.Value),StartsWith(Title,TextSearchBox1_1.Text),Or(STN.Value = Dropdown1_1.Selected.Value,StartsWith(Title,TextSearchBox1_1.Text))))

Then when you select a blank value it will work only off the search text, if you select a value from the dropdown it will work off the dropdown and the search text.
