Hi
I have a combobox which has its items coming from a Dataverse Table and I have set the defaultselecteditems to {Value:ThisItem.CrewRole} which works fine and displays the default value in the combobox.
I then have some logic to turn on a toggle switch is ThisItem.CrewRole <> Combobox.Selected.Title (where TITLE is the column name coming from the Dataverse Table).
For some reason, when I hover over the logic, PowerApps thinks that Combobox.Selected.Title is BLANK unless I go in and physically choose a new item? How can I "convince" PowerApps that Combobox.Selected.Title ISN'T BLANK and actually is equal to the defaultselecteditem property?
Many thanks!
Hi,
I don't want to reinvent the wheel :-), so try checking out this post as I think it will give you what you need.
However, if it doesn't come back, please let us know.
Hope this helps.
Basically it is saying that if you populated the DefaultSelectedItems property on a combo it displays this, but it doesn't trigger the selection of the item. It says that in order for the Selected property to be populated the user has to click on it. Yeah, I know sounds lik a Bug, BS, Bull Puckey 🙂 fill in your favorite term 🙂
I'm going to experiment to see if maybe there is a work around on this and I'll respond with what I find out because this sounds like a PowerApps bug to me, but maybe someone has figured out a work around.
Hope this helps.
Many thanks - it's driving me mad!
I found a solution to a similar bug I had on another screen which was using the Office365 Search User connector, which was:
If(!IsBlank(ThisItem.Coord),Office365Users.SearchUser({searchTerm:ThisItem.Coord, top:1}))
However, I can't find a way of doing this when my ITEMS is a Dataverse Table and NOT the Office365Users connector?!
I basically want to do something similar such as:
If(!IsBlank(ThisItem.Coord),<<MYDATAVERSETABLE,COLUMNNAME, ThisItem.Coord)>>
This is almost working, but it's displaying the first value in the row rather than matching it with the "ThisItem.Coord" value:
If(!IsBlank(ThisItem.CrewRole), 'Role Typess') where Role Types is my Dataverse table.
So, I just need a way to reference ThisItem.CrewRole within the 'Role Types' argument?
Can you tell me what your Items property of the ComboBox is set to. This will help me try to replicate the problem.
Thanks
So I tested this. Unfortunately, this is not fixed. If you set DefaultSelectedItems to a value, it will not be in the Selected or the Selected Items property.
Possible Solutions, but I think only 3 is really a reasonable work-around:
1. Use a DropDown, instead of a ComboBox as it's Default property does work and does populate the Selected property. May not work for your solution as DropDown doesn't have the search functionality that a ComboBox does.
2. Use a Gallery, which you could use a Filter command in the Items to select the item (Not sure I like this either, but hey it's an option)
3. Set your Combobox DefautSelectedItems value using a global variable. Then if the ComboBoxSelected.Title is blank then you know that the user accepted the default and use the value in your global variable for storing that into your database or for whatever other purposes. The reason you know this is true is because if the user choses anything else from the dropdown the Selected.Title will not be blank. Does this make sense? I know it's pretty bad you have to do something like this, but I searched around and this is my own creation, the other solutions I saw posted were, "just give up" 🙂 lol 🙂
Hope this helps
I have verified that setting DefaultedSelectedItems does not set the Selected or the SelectedItems property. The Selected and SelectedItems properties are only set when a user manually selects an item from the ComboBox.
So... a bug... I say, but one that has been there for a long time apparently and no one wants to fix it 😞
Several options here. Switch to a different control.
