Copy field in Form 1 to Form 2

Here is my problem. I currently have 2 forms, Form A and Form B. They are SharePoint lists (2 separate lists) and they have separate BrowseScreens and EditScreens in PowerApps. I want the ID number in Form A to automatically carry over to an ID field in Form B.

I want a user to be able to fill out Form A, click a button, and be taken to Form B where the ID number is automatically carried over so the ID is identical to Form A. It gets tricky because different Form A submissions have different ID numbers, so I'm having trouble getting the Form B ID field to identify WHICH Form A ID number should be displayed. I want the Form B ID field Default to be the Form A selected parent's ID number.

Hi @Anonymous ,

Do you want to get the ID of the record which is created or edited in Form A and make a field in Form B automatically filled with the ID number? Are these two ID fields you mentioned the system columns?

Assuming they are both System ID columns which would be generated when a record is created and could not be modified, it is not available to make Form A's ID in Form B while Form B is in the New mode.

As per you have the button to change screens, you could use a Navigate function on the button to create an context variable and leverage it in Form B.

OnSelect of the Button:

SubmitForm(FormA);Navigate(ScreenB,Transition.None,{varID:FormA.LastSubmit.ID});ResetForm(FormA)

If you don't submit Form A before going to Form B and now the Form A could only be in Edit/View mode (in New mode this could not happen because No record created No ID generated), you could set a global variable on the button:

Set(varID, FormA.ID)

With formulas above, once clicked the button, Form A was submitted and could got the ID of that record and create a variable with it, then in Form B you could leverage the variable.

So the Item of Form B would be:

If(FormB.Mode=FormMode.View || FormB.Mode=FormMode.Edit,LookUp(ListB,ID=varID))

If the ID field is a Text field in Form B, it would be easy. The Text of ID field DataCard would be set to:

If(FormB.Mode=FormMode.View || FormB.Mode=FormMode.Edit,Parent.Default,varID)

It is complicated to list all the possibilities so could you please share more details about your scenario, especially the column types and form modes?

On the button that will navigate to form 2 set a variable;

Set(MyID, DatacaradvalueName.Text)

Then in the default of the ID datacaradvalue:

If(Form2.Mode=FormMode.Edit,Parent.Dafault,MyID)

The column type of the Form A ID is Number (I think. It's automatically generated in SharePoint). The column type of the Form B ID is Single Line of Text. I want to get the ID of the record which is created or edited in Form A and make a field in Form B (New Form Mode) automatically filled with the Form A ID number.

I am also interested in applying this idea towards other fields, such as Product Description. The Product Description field is a Multiple Line Free Text field in both Form A and Form B. I would like it to carry over from Form A to Form B. (Users would click a button at the end of Form A, which would take them to Form B, where the Product Description is carried over but the rest of the information needs to be populated by the user).

Hi @Anonymous ,

Would the button submit form A then go to form B? If it would submit form A then you could get everything in form A with the formula of:

FormA.LastSubmit.FieldName

If not submit form A then you could get every field through

FieldNameDataCardValue.Text

of form A but except ID field while form a in New mode, since the record has not saved and ID has not been generated.
