Create a 1:1 Teams Chat Message and post message

Hi!

I have a PowerApp Canvas App with the following:

• Combo Box connected to Office365 Users Connector to allow me to select people
• HTML box which has some default text in
• Button

I want to be able to select the person in the Combo Box, press the button and a Teams 1:1 Chat is created and the content of my message is sent to them straightaway.

So far I have this:

MicrosoftTeams.CreateChat(ComboBox2.Selected.UserPrincipalName, {content: HtmlText2})

It doesn't return any errors but it also doesn't work. 

Is anyone able to help?

At the ComboBox Items property need to write below code:

Office365Users.SearchUser({searchTerm:ComboBox1.SearchText, top:10})

Add a HTML textbox and set Default property to the text you want to send in the Teams chat message.

Now, Add a button and on the OnSelect use the below code:

MicrosoftTeams.CreateChatWith(ComboBox1.Selected.Mail, {initialText: HtmlText1.HtmlText})

Now, When you click on the button it will send a message to the selected user.

Hi @vikas1606 - that didn't work unfortunately.

In my Combo Box (ComboBox2) I have the below in items and want to keep it that way if possible:
Office365Users.SearchUser({searchTerm: TextInput1.Text})

In the On Select for the Button, I used: 

MicrosoftTeams.CreateChat(ComboBox2.Selected.Mail, {initialText: HtmlText2.HtmlText})

This didn't work. Apparently MicrosoftTeams.CreateChatWith is not a recognised command

Sorry, @VictorTek  that was a typo. You are right CreateChat is the correct function. Could you please share what error you have when you click on the button?

i have a similar use case to yours but i do not include a text to the message.

I have a label that holds the emailadress of the user i want to start a chat with.

i have a button where onselect i use this:

Launch("https://teams.microsoft.com/l/chat/0/0?users="&Label1.Text)

as mentioned the Label11 holds the emailadress.

So you want to include the text of the HTML box`?

maybe this helps:

Launch(
    "https://teams.microsoft.com/l/chat/0/0?users=" & Label1.Text & "&message=" & HtmlTextBox.Text
)

Quick question:
Are you guys doing this with the classic Teams client or the New Teams client?

All my tests, whether I was using "Launch" or "CreateChat" result in 0 chats, but we only have the New Teams client.

Thus I was wondering which version you are having success with.
