I currently just have my form submitting the title in my list as a fixed piece of text "New Item"
I have two main lists:
1) The product codenames (EG - Apple, Orange, Banana)
2) The Product Details (Date of submission, etc)
I would like to be able to create the title upon submission which would be like "Banana Item 1" where the number is whatever the last submission was +1 (EG if the last was Banana Item 5, the next would be Banana Item 6)
Currently, I am unable to extract the codename because it comes as a choice from another list (list 1). Using the following results in a blank result:
Dropdown1.Selected.Title
Does anyone have any insight on what I can do here?
In short, there are two challenges here:
1) Save the selected item within Dropdown1 (which is a lookup choice from a different list)
2) Find the latest submission and 'add 1' to the codename numbering
Hi @APM1994,
I want to confirm the following info with you:
1). Code Name is a LookUp field retrieving values from the Title column in another list
2). You want to extract the order number from the last submitted code name and add 1 to the current code name
3). The LookUp column code name exists in the Product Details list
4). Title column in Product Details list is a text column to save the format string with code number and order number
If the above is what happened in your scenario, I think you could try as below.
1). If you set the code name Dropdown1 with Choices('Product Details'.CodeName), you should refer to dropdown selected as below:
Dropdown1.Selected.Value
2). If your code string format is Banana Item 1, then you should use Split() to split based on the items and you will have a result table including Banana and 1.
To find out the correct code name, you should use the following formula:
First(Split(First(Sort('Product Details',SubmissionDate,Descending)).CodeName,"Item")).Result
To find out the correct order number, you should write as below:
Last(Split(First(Sort('Product Details',SubmissionDate,Descending)).CodeName,"Item")).Result
3). To concatenate the code name with the order number, you should try the following formula:
Concatenate(First(Split(First(Sort('Product Details',SubmissionDate,Descending)).CodeName,"Item")).Result," Item ",
Last(Split(First(Sort('Product Details',SubmissionDate,Descending)).CodeName,"Item")).Result)
Hi! Apologies for the delay in response, I've been travelling for work.
I actually managed to get the list to save the reference 'name' but I'm struggling with adding the number.
So in the product details list, I can select an associated product codename from the codename list. However, this just saves them all as "Banana" - rather than "Banana 1", "Banana 2" etc etc
Hi @APM1994,
I think I have mentioned how to add the number in my first reply.
Could you please just try mu solution and tell me if this could work on your side?
I don't think I've been clear - I want to add the order number based on the last item.
For example, let's say the Title of the LATEST item is "Banana Item 5". When I next add an item which is a "Banana Item", I want it to be "Banana Item 6" and then the next will be 7 and so on.
Hi @APM1994,
Have you ever tried?
The above Last() function returns the last item from your data, and you just need to add 1 to the formula.
Last(Split(First(Sort('Product Details',SubmissionDate,Descending)).CodeName,"Item")).Result+1
Concatenate(First(Split(First(Sort('Product Details',SubmissionDate,Descending)).CodeName,"Item")).Result," Item ",
Last(Split(First(Sort('Product Details',SubmissionDate,Descending)).CodeName,"Item")).Result+1)
I've managed to get the split/concatenate to work so that I can add the "1" - But I can only do this on a basic string.
I am struggling to extract the latest "Banana Item" from the list. I keep getting errors.
I think if I can get that filter to work, then I can combine the formulas to get it all to work.
Currently doing: Last(Filter(Codename,Product.Value = Gallery.Selected.Project))
Project = Banana
Codename = List in which Project is a column
So I am trying to filter to ONLY the entries which Project = Banana, and then extract the latest entry
