Crisis Communication solution feedback

On Monday afternoon, as news of COVID-19 cases spread globally, we pulled together a team to help customers coordinate their own information sharing and team collaboration in response to evolving conditions in times of crisis. Today, less than 48 hours later, we’re releasing the first version of that solution for any customer organization to quickly implement. You can read more about the solution in our blog post or get the full instructions for how you can implement your own Crisis Communication app here.

We're extremely excited to hear how the community leverages this app, so we've created this thread to hear directly from you. Feel free to share your experience customizing the solution and altering it for your own needs. Over the next few weeks, we'll take your responses to make the app even better and post incremental updates. 😁

Hi @DayanaVerdugo ,

Hope I can help you with this one.

Could you please open the tab where "Action 'Send_an_HTTP_request_to_SharePoint_Logo_Library' failed"  is displayed and share the error details in there?

Kind Regards,

João

Hello @bastosj

Here is the error in the Scope-Logo Library part, which appears at the moment of run the flow for import app files to Crisis Comms's SharePoint site.

Thanks for your help!

Hey @DanielaHo ,

That's right, Crisis Comms App leverages SP as its primary data source.

I believe your question is leaning more towards security architecture than the App itself. With that in mind, please know you may limit users on that particular SP Site to exclusively view entries they've created (own submissions as you've mentioned).

You can add further security layering such as creating a new permissions level and set it to Contribute mode (meaning users can only Create, Read, Update and Delete entries but not do anything else with the public lists). Combining this with own-submission reads should sort your problem.

To create new permission levels please see: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sharepoint/customize-sharepoint-site-permissions

Hope this helps your organization be comfortable with this App?

Kind Regards,

João

Many thanks for creating and sharing an app like this to the community!

We are thinking about implementing it, but would like to add a few changes and wondering where is the best location to do the editing. I could probably figure it out myself, but I'd like to ask first.

  • Would like users to be able to
    • select they will be in the office or a plant
    • select which office or plant

I know that location tracing can be enabled, but if they select the office and the location is at home...well that doesn't help as we have multiple offices in some areas.

It looks like the right place to modify would be the "Work Status Screen", but I wanted to verify first before I "break" it 🙂

Hi,

I created an MS Team for the Crisis App admin users. I realised that if users are not a member of  the Team, they are not able to add a request to the channel.

How do I resolve this?

Crisis Comm App Expired - In Office365 plan with Premium Flow disabled

Hi Guys

We are implementing the Crisis Comm app under our Office365 plan.

Since we don't want/need the feature of the premium flow we have it disabled in flows and remove it from the app itself.

(so I think...)

My user (being the one implementing it) doesn't receive any error or alert, but other users from my organization still receive the alert to extend the trial.

Will the app stop working even with the premium features disabled?

How can I be sure the app will not stop working in a couple of weeks?

Do I need to take any action on a user level?

Thanks!

Tiago

Hi all,

I'm just trying to add a navigation option to the main menu on the home screen, but I have no idea how it works. Could someone point me in the right direction, please?

Hi @Hayes3d1 ,

You're absolutely right about the approach to add new work status messages.

Please refer to this link to learn how to add those both on the SharePoint List and visible on the App: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/powerapps/maker/canvas-apps/sample-crisis-communication-app#optiona...

Hope this helps?

Kind Regards,

João

Hi @DayanaVerdugo ,

Is your SharePoint site on a SharePoint ONLINE instance?

Did you configure the Flow (i.e.: Edit and adapt the SharePoint site link to point to the correct one) prior to running the Flow?

Kind Regards,

João
