DIsplaying Attachment

Hi,

Can someone help? I have a custom form in my SharePoint list using PowerApps. I have set the required properties of attachment filed in to TRUE so that it will require the user to include attachment. There are cases where, even if the user added the attachment and proceeded with submission, when displaying the form of the item they had submitted, the attachment was lost. What could be the reason? One thing I assume is that the attachment content is null. Do you have any idea what else could be the reason for this?

Also, is it possible to display the attachment even if the content is null?

Appreciate your help on this. Thank you in advance

Hi @jaina ,

Do you mean that the uploaded file is not displayed in the form after the user submits it? What about the other data in the form? Do they also disappear after submission? Please check if the file was successfully uploaded to the data source.

I hope you can provide the code to submit the form and the Item and DefaultMode settings of the form. It would be better if you could provide some screenshots of the error messages.

Best regards,

Rimmon Li

Hi @v-mengmli-msft thanks for replying.

All the data submitted were displayed in the form. There are cases only when attachments were not uploaded successfully to the SharePoint List.

No error was prompted. It's just that there are cases where the user uploads an attachment. so the system can read it that's why the formula in the Submit button will proceed, but in displaying the form and checking on the SP list, no attachment was found.

Hi @jaina , I'm not sure if Attachment can be set Required as it does not appear under SharePoint List > Setting > Column > tick/untick Required does not exist.

Hi @jaina ,

It seems that the source of the problem is that the file is not successfully uploaded to the SP List. After you added the Attachment to the Form field, did you make any changes to the attachments card? Please check the update property of your Attachments card.

Hi @v-mengmli-msft , i didn't change the formula in update property of attachment

Please keep in mind that this issue isn't always happening; there are some instances only.

One thing I assume is that some people may be attaching empty content or information. I am monitoring since I am not sure if some users are attaching no content.

What I need is a formula condition that the system can use to determine whether the file they attached is empty inside (has no bytes).

Hi @jaina ,

Through my testing, I found that it is currently difficult to judge the size of a file through a formula and decide whether to upload it, which means you may need to build a flow to achieve this. You can refer to the solution:

Solved: Attachment control file size minimum validation - Power Platform Community (microsoft.com)

If you have any questions during the process of creating the flow, you can reply to me, and I will try my best to solve it for you.

Hope this helps you!

Best regards,

Appreciate your ( @v-mengmli-msft ) effort in checking the workaround on this issue. It looks like there is no resolution yet for this feature in PowerApps alone. I'll try to do the recommendation anyway, thanks!

The issue is we do not know if the attachment got upload or not or lost or whatever. Why don't you add a notification popup where if the attachment upload fail or success, so you know this is not the issue
