Datacard editable when the logged user is the same as the value from another datacard

Hi, I have a form that is editable for all admin, and is in view mode if the user is not admin. I use this formula in the DefaultMode of the editform:

If(varUser in varAdmin, FormMode.Edit, FormMode.View)

where varUser is the user logged in and varAdim is a list of emails in the OnStart of the APP.

One datacard (Notes) of the form must be editable by the logged user not in the admin list, when it matched the value of another datacard (Owner). In the Default property of the Notes datacard I used this formula:

If( varUser1 in DataCardValue13.Selected.DisplayName, FormMode.Edit, FormMode.View)

where varUser1 is the name of the logged user and the DataCardValue13.Selected.DisplayName (Owner datacard - people column on Sharepoint).

If not admin, the form stays in view mode. If not admin and user logged = Owner name on the datacard, the Note datacard is not in view form but it is not editable either. See the image. I can't edit even if it looks editable. Any tips what am I doing wrong?

You are going to need to have the Form in Edit mode all of the time and then set each control mode to view or edit as required.

Hi, thanks for your help, I thought I solved it but I was wrong.

The datacard (Notes) that I want editable only for admin and for the owner of that record (which is a people picker field in Sharepoint and it is present in the form as well), it remains in view mode.

These are the modifications I have applied to set the form in edit mode only for admins.

In the DefaultMode of the Form I used this formula: FormMode.Edit

All the datacards except for the Notes datacard have the DisplayMode.View for the DisplayMode property.

The Notes Datacard has this formula in the DisplayMode:

If(User().FullName = DataCardValue13.Selected.DisplayName ,DisplayMode.Edit, DisplayMode.View)

I am the owner of this record, and this is the result:

The Notes Datacard should be editable but it is not. If I try to delete, I can't. Could be that the DataCardValue13.Selected.DisplayName, which is the name of the Owner (people picker in Sharepoint) is the culprit of the this issue?

If so, How can I rewrite the formula?

I'd be very glad if anyone can assist me.

OK - to summarise this:-

• The DefaultMode of the Form is in FormMode.Edit
• The Data Card containing the Notes Text control has a DisplayMode
  If(
     User().FullName = DataCardValue13.Selected.DisplayName ,
     DisplayMode.Edit,
     DisplayMode.View
  )
• DataCardValue13 contains the User's Full Name
• The Text Input containing the Notes field a DisplayMode of Parent.DisplayMode
• You are saying you cannot edit it ?

On Step 3: it is correct, there is the full name in format Surname, Firstname as this value is a people picker column on sharepoint.

Yes, I can't edit it.
