Hello,
Relatively new to Power Apps and am struggling to figure out two issues surrounding making datacards visible based on a on a multiselect combo box. I have various scenarios/selection combos that would dictate a few additional datacards appearing.
Here's hopefully everything necessary to figure the two issues listed below out:
- Datacard title containing the choices: EMPLOYEE WILL BE..._DataCard1
- Combobox Name: DataCardValue14
- Items are populated from a SharePoint List: Choices([@'TRAVEL PROFILE REQUEST FORM'].'EMPLOYEE WILL BE...')
--> options are: TRAVELING, ARRANGING, REVIEWING, APPROVING, OTHER (provide details below)
===============================================
Issue 1: Need Visible to work if selection is buried among multiple selections, not only when last (Contains?)
Because it's a multiselect, I can get them to work if the option I'm looking for is selected LAST but not if the selection that dictates the visibility it is 'contained' AMONG the selections. For instance, If(DataCardValue14.Selected.Value in "OTHER (provide details below)",true, false), will work but only if that option is selected last. It's first or in the middle, it doesn't work.
Showing selection order in Employee Will Be... and needing the additional 'other' box below to show up when 'other' is selected
Employee will be...(other details) field will not show up if selection order is reversed and there could potentially be a third, fourth or fifth option so it can't depend on position.
Current Visible Property set to:
--------------------------------------------------------------
Issue 2: Need DataCard to be Visible if selection contains specific combinations (And?)
I need the box to be visible if it contains a specific response in combo with particular other choices (an 'and' situation if 'APPROVING' is selected in combo with 'REVIEWING' or 'ARRANGING'...or all three).
(*Visible set to simply 'true' to get this screenshot)
I tried setting the Visible Property to (and it does not like this at all):

Thanks so much to anyone that can help me with this. It's been driving me nuts. Have a great day 🙂

Thank you! That down arrow is a nice trick! I had noticed that in some of the videos but wasn't able to reliably get it to show up. Very helpful!
Issue #1: I think I figured it out...I also think I maybe didn't explain it well at the start so I apologize for that. When I added in the other options, it made the 'Employe will be...' card visible all the time no matter what the selection was. What ended up working was:
If("OTHER (provide details below)" in DataCardValue14.SelectedItems.Value,true,false)
So now it makes that Data Card visible if it detects that "OTHER" option anywhere within the multiple selections/values and isn't limited to it being at the end. I also needed to use "SelectedItems" instead of just 'Selected.Value'. 🙂
Issue #2: I needed to add ".Value" at the end of SelectedItems and it seems to be liking it. Yay!
"REVIEWING" in DataCardValue14.SelectedItems.Value && "APPROVING" in DataCardValue14.SelectedItems.Value ||
"ARRANGING" in DataCardValue14.SelectedItems.Value && "APPROVING" in DataCardValue14.SelectedItems.Value
I'm so grateful to be able to move on from this brain teaser and will be sleeping much better now that this is figured out. Thank you again for all of your help and your patience! Have a great day and I'm sure I'll be begging for help again here in the future 🙂
For Issue1 you are really close.
The "in" statement offers you the opportunity to check a single column table of strings [ "a","b","c"], but you only provided one string "a" 🙂
And how you stated the if, the input is a boolean, and the output is a boolean. You can save yourself that trouble...
If you change Visible property to:
DataCardValue14.Selected.Value in ["TRAVELING","OTHER (provide details below)"]
it will most likely work for what you shared in your screenshot, and you can add as many strings to the Table as you like...
And for issue 2... you're allso really close! 😄
You should check if the mentioned strings are in the Selecteditems of your DataCardValue. And again you can drop the IF. So the right code will most likely be:
"REVIWING" in DataCardValue14.SelectedItems && "APPROVING" in DataCardValue14.SelectedItems ||
"ARRANGING" in DataCardValue14.SelectedItems && "APPROVING" in DataCardValue14.SelectedItems
apart from the little typo in REVIEWING, I guess this will work as well
Please LIKE the reply and ACCEPT it as the solution if the answer is what you were looking for.

Hi RogierE,
Thank you so very much for your help! I've added in the updates and it seems to still be uncooperative for some reason...
Issue #1 is still only showing up when the trigger selection is last in the sequence 😞
Issue #2: Seems to still not want to show up with the combinations selected 😞
PS, thank you for the gentle nudge on the misspelling! It's corrected now. If only that ended up being the issue that made it work 😉
Any additional thoughts or tweaks are much appreciated. I'll try anything 🙂 Thanks again!
For issue#1: you created a Table, but still added only one string value. Add the others, and you're good to go.
For issue#2: you can check what went wrong by selecting a part of your formula and then pressing the arrow just below the formula bar. This way you can check which part of the formula has the undesired outcome
Thank you! That down arrow is a nice trick! I had noticed that in some of the videos but wasn't able to reliably get it to show up. Very helpful!
