Dataverse Update Gallery Issues

In Dataverse I have 3 related tables:

  • Estimate (1 to many with Estimate Details)
  • Estimate Details (many to 1 with Equipment Rates)
  • Equipment Rates

In Power Apps, I have

  • EstGallery (Items=Estimate)
  • EstimateForm (Source=Estimates and Item=EstGallery.Selected)
  • EstDetailGallery (Items:EstGallery.Selected.'Estimate Details)
  • ItemDetailForm (Source=Estimates Details and Item: EstDetailGallery.Selected)

I am just using SubmitForm functions to send the new items to Dataverse.

When I add a new item with the EstimateForm, the new item is immediately added to the Gallery (PERFECT!)

When I add a new item with the ItemDetailForm,

  • Dataverse Updates, BUT the Gallery will not update
  • I have to select a new item in the EstGallery then re-select to see the changes.

I also have an X icon in EstDetailGallery to Remove the item Remove('Estimate Details',ThisItem)- This works on the Tables in Dataverse, but to see the change in the EstDetailGallery I have to select another item in EstGallery then re-select. Dataverse PowerApps Gallery Update Issue.png

@dpoggemann - I was able to find a work around, but I do not understand why this is happening...

In the Gallery with the Primary Table Estimate, OnSelect I Set(varEstimate,ThisItem).  I then use this variable in the forms and Gallerys.  Anytime I was changing a Secondary table, varEstimate would periodically go blank and lose it's value.  So, before any Save or Remove action, I Set(varTempEstimate, varEstimate).  Then OnSuccess of a Form  or after a patch, I Set(varEstimate, varTempEstimate).  This seems to be working.  This is not something I have ever had to do when SharePoint was my datasource.

@ALeeBordelon

In the OnSuccess property of the ItemDetailForm: Refresh(Estimates)

I tried but still the items do not show in the gallery.  I also did the following:

EstGallery

  • OnSelect- Set varEstimate, ThisItem)
  • I then changed all locations of EstGallery.Selected to varEstimate

In the OnSucess of ItemDetailForm

  • Refresh(Estimates)
  • Set(varEstimate to the Default value of Estimate Name datacard which is varEstimate)

This works for a few items then varEstimate goes BLANK and EstGallery.Selected goes BLANK!  I have never had something work for just a period of time or a number of actions.  It seems like there is a limit to the number of times you can refresh before the Gallery re-sets.  I am at a total loss.

@ALeeBordelon

I believe the problem is with the estimate name card .  This is where the relationship between the Estimate and the Estimate Details tables should be represented.  Perhaps @dpoggemann  or @MiraGhaly could shed some light on the problem.

@Drrickryp  or @dpoggemann  or @MiraGhaly -  Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.  I have made lots of SharePoint apps, but this is my first using Dataverse and the learn curve is more then I expected!

If this issue is with the relationships, here is some additional information.
Estimate Table:

  • Primary- Company-Project (Optional)

Estimate Details:

  • Primary- Item Name (Optional)
  • Estimate Name (Lookup to the Estimate) (many to one)

Hi @ALeeBordelon

I don't see any issues with your relationships from the Dataverse perspective and you mentioned, unless I am reading incorrectly that the Dataverse tables are accurate after completing your steps.

Some questions:

1.  If you leave the application and come back in I expect everything is showing as expected right?  If so, I don't think there is any issues with your relationships.

2.  Are you utilizing tables directly for your Galleries or are you bringing the information into Collections?  If you are tying directly to the datasource, have you tried adding the following to your submit?

Submit?SubmitForm(Formname);Refresh(data source name)

If you are using a collection you will need to do something like the following:

SubmitForm(Formname);ClearCollect(collectionname,data sourcename)

3.  When you remove an item from the list, on that remove, do you Refresh your datasource for the EstimateDetail?  It looks like you were refreshing Estimates vs the EstimateDetail?

Hope this helps. Please accept if answers your question or Like if helps in any way.
Thanks,
Drew
