Date picker toooo slooooow

Hi Team, 

I am building a pretty sophisticated travel requests management solution based on new experience SharePoint lists, flow and powerapp customized forms.

I noticed that date picker data card behaves very slowly.

It literally takes the same amount of time for users to pick up a single day or to fill in about 8 other fields. So, setting a date with date picker is really painful for users.

Is it a bug, or is there a way of somehow to speed up its behaviour?

And functions used within the date field together with the DatePicker control?

Currently there is no possible workaround to improve single control performance, you may take a look at the following blog for how to improve performance under PowerApps:

Im trying to find some workarounds for this.

I might try to put the date into a collection somehow.

Hi Pavel,

That doesn't sound normal - if I use the datepicker it pops up the calendar, I select the day I'm looking for and click ok - the only time I spend is looking for the month and day I want, so if it's in the same month as today, all of 3 seconds. 

Is the issue finding the day you want, or is the control actually slow to respond?

Hi Russel, 

Yes, the issue is that sometimes it pops up really slowly and responses slowly as well. 

It can take up to 10-20 seconds to choose only one date. 

Imagine that you need to enter an itinerary consisted of 7 flight segments.

This is why I suggest users entering dates manually, without pop up, if they need to speed up.

Hi Pavel,

Assuming you're using the standard datepicker control - that definitely doesn't sound normal.

some questions:

• If you create a new blank app and pop the datepicker control onto a blank page, is it still slow?
• Are you using the web studio or the desktop studio?
• Is it slow only in the edit studio, or also while playing the published app through the browser?
• Is it also slow while playing the app on a mobile phone with the PowerApps App?

Hi @RusselThomas,

Thank you for your edits, here are some details:

1. I haven't tried to create a new control on a blank new app as I noticed that sometimes it's quite responsive and sometimes not. So this is not a permanent behaviour.

2. I am using web studio

3. Experience is the same in both Studio or in the published app

4. As for mobiles, we do not consider mobile usage yet this is why this app was designed for desktop use.

I just want to add that mine is also extremely slow. I see someone said it isn't normal, but it happens almost everytime I create or edit a form. It's connected to a date column in a very small list, so there isn't a bunch of data to pull or anything. Would love to fix this.

The way I solved the delay was to narrow the start and end date to this year.
I also added togggle buttons to increase / decrease the day.
