DateTime Button

How do you create a date and time button on Power Apps, basically what I'm trying to do is create a clock in button that when an employee clicks it, it displays the date and time that the button was pressed and also a another button for clock out that will also display the date and time that person clocked out.

Hi @Anonymous ,

If you have the standard SharePoint date/time control, this should take care of itself - the Update properties of the card (I will call CheckInTime) should be

CheckinTime.SelectedDate +
Time(
   Value(CheckinTime.SelectedText.Value),
   Value(CheckinTime.SelectedText.Value),
   0
)

 and it will update SharePoint accordingly.

It didn't work, I'm thinking the properties from the solution you sent yesterday would they have to change, for instance the text input properties

So on the OnSelect of ClockInBtn (ClockInTime would now change to the name of the date/time field i.e. CheckinTime)

UpdateContext({vInTime:true});
Reset(ClockInTime)

On the Default of ClockInTime (this won't work because this is for the text input field whereas I have a date time field, so would I need to put in something else for the date/time default properties)

If(
vInTime,
Text(
Now(),
DateTimeFormat.LongDateTime
),
Parent.Default
)

 ClockInBtn (This also didn't work for the button in regards to updating the date/time field)

If(
isBlank(ClockInTime),
DisplayMode.Edit,
DisplayMode.Disabled
)

@WarrenBelzAnother thing is that it the date/time field as well as the button aren't can't be viewed on the preview page.

Hi @Anonymous I am a little confused here - are the Date/Time boxes in your view bound directly to the SharePoint check-in time field (and I assume this field is a date/time field). If so if you add the field using the normal PowerApps "add field" function, all the update properties will be set for you. Or are these unbound fields? Option one would be the very easy solution however going back to the previous solution - if you want to update with a button.
So on the OnSelect of ClockInBtn

UpdateContext({vInTime:true});
Reset(ClockInTime)

On the Default of ClockInTime (I assume separate hidden control) you will have three controls in your additional box ClockInDay, ClockHour and ClockInMinute

If(
   vInTime,
   ClockInDay.SelectedDate +
   Time(
      Value(ClockInHour.SelectedText.Value),
      Value(ClockInMinute.SelectedText.Value),
      0
   ),
   Parent.Default
)

Hi @Anonymous ,

Our messages crossed - it does not matter which screen a control is on - it can be referenced from anywhere in the app.

The ClockInTime is this the text input (as I said in previous post, I'm getting rid of the text input and replacing them with the date/time field that was already in the SharePoint list, so I've added those field to the app), so is the clockInTime field the date/time field from SharePoint? If so on the default property of that date/time field would I still add in:

If(
   vInTime,
   ClockInDay.SelectedDate +
   Time(
      Value(ClockInHour.SelectedText.Value),
      Value(ClockInMinute.SelectedText.Value),
      0
   ),
   Parent.Default
)

 This is how it looks like on my power apps on the ClockInTime field (date/time field)using the default property:

(my clockInTime field was previously named as clock_in as you can see in the image below when the mouse hovers over the field on the app, but on the tree view it displays ClockInTime, so it kind of confusing when picking the right to add to the formula)

Screenshot (31).png

As you can see in the image there isn't any text inputs present, so all I want is that when the button is clicked on the date and time are present on the respective date and time field and so on. The formulas from previous post tends to work better with just text inputs not with the date/time fields.

I'm really sorry this is quite of a rollercoaster, I'm just finding it quite difficult to understand.

@WarrenBelz  Below are the images displaying the errors.

In regards to the control name change, when I had the text inputs they were called (ClockITime and ClocOutTime) but since I deleted the text inputs and replaced them with my date/time fields which were originally called clock_in and clock_out, I renamed the fields the name given to the text inputs (ClockITime and ClocOutTime) so that the formulas wouldn't have to change that muich as the names would be similar, thats all I changed in regards to the controls.

Ok @Anonymous ,

There must be a disconnect somewhere - I will ask my colleague @Anonymous for a fresh set of eyes on this.

I will be happy to contribute if I can get my mind around what is the issue here.

Thanks @WarrenBelz  for the tag.

@Anonymous I'm not that familiar with Date/Time fields so don't think I can help really. I'd add a new screen, add a new form and set the data source as the one you are working on. Then check the properties that the form sets up for you against the one with the errors and try to troubleshoot that way.

Sorry I can't be more help.

Thanks @Anonymous ,

I will give our SuperUser pal @PowerAddict a go.

Happy to step back in if required.
