Delegation errors

Hello,

 

I am currently trying to add a gallery into my canvas app, I want the gallery to have newer calls at the top of the list, and then I want users to be able to do a search by either an Incident Title or a start date The parameters I am adding are below but I am getting a delegation error and the it seems like it should all delegatable. 

 

SortByColumns(Filter([@'Major Incident Dashboard'], StartsWith('Incident Call Start Date', TextSearchBox3)), "Title", If(SortDescending3, Descending, Ascending))

Well, you're not sorting by the date.  You're sorting by the Title in the formula.

If you want to sort by the date, then change the formula to specify the date column to sort.

i.e.:

SortByColumns(
    Filter('Major Incident Dashboard', 
        IsBlank(TextSearchBox3.Text) ||
        ('Incident Call Start Date' >= DateValue(TextSearchBox3.Text) &&
        'Incident Call Start Date' <= DateAdd(DateValue(TextSearchBox3.Text), 1, Days))
    ), 
    "Incident Call Start Date", 
    If(SortDescending3, Descending, Ascending)
)

StartsWith works for Text columns.  You are indicating that 'Incident Call Start Date' is a date column.

Your formula would need to be corrected to:

SortByColumns(
    Filter('Major Incident Dashboard', 
        'Incident Call Start Date' = DateValue(TextSearchBox3.Text)
    ), 
    "Title", 
    If(SortDescending3, Descending, Ascending)
)

So I tried as indicated above but now my gallery isn't loading anything.

@Incident-Manage 

Most likely because your dates don't match.  A date column and comparison really includes the Time as well.  A date with no time has a time value of "00:00:00"  But, then localization plays a factor as your Date gets offset by the time zone.

 

Start with this formula to account for it:

SortByColumns(
    Filter('Major Incident Dashboard', 
        'Incident Call Start Date' >= DateValue(TextSearchBox3.Text),
        'Incident Call Start Date' <= DateAdd(DateValue(TextSearchBox3.Text), 1, Days)
    ), 
    "Title", 
    If(SortDescending3, Descending, Ascending)
)

This is not necessarily the final formula, but this is to test to see if the time factor in the dates is the issue you are encountering.

So this works partially my gallery is blank but only if I don't have anything loaded into the search box, once I add a date to the search box it pulls all the calls for the selected date.

This gives me nothing, even if try searching a date in the search field. I have attached screenshots showing the behavior.

Okay, you have never validated if Incident Call Start Date is a date column or a text column.  Which is it?

@RandyHayes Incident Call Start Date is a date column the table pulls from my SharePoint List and in its setting I set it to date only.

Sorry, I see I had a typo in the formula I provided you.

It should be:

SortByColumns(
    Filter('Major Incident Dashboard', 
        IsBlank(TextSearchBox3.Text) ||
        ('Incident Call Start Date' >= DateValue(TextSearchBox3.Text) &&
        'Incident Call Start Date' <= DateAdd(DateValue(TextSearchBox3.Text), 1, Days))
    ), 
    "Title", 
    If(SortDescending3, Descending, Ascending)
)

If it's a Date Column, then the formula should be providing what you need.

Summer of Solutions | Week 4 Results | Winners will be posted on July 24th

We are excited to announce the Summer of Solutions Challenge!   This challenge is kicking off on Monday, June 17th and will run for (4) weeks.  The challenge is open to all Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate, Copilot Studio & Power Pages) community members. We invite you to participate in a quest to provide solutions in the Forums to as many questions as you can. Answers can be provided in all the communities.    Entry Period: This Challenge will consist of four weekly Entry Periods as follows (each an “Entry Period”)   - 12:00 a.m. PT on June 17, 2024 – 11:59 p.m. PT on June 23, 2024 - 12:00 a.m. PT on June 24, 2024 – 11:59 p.m. PT on June 30, 2024 - 12:00 a.m. PT on July 1, 2024 – 11:59 p.m. PT on July 7, 2024 - 12:00 a.m. PT on July 8, 2024 – 11:59 p.m. PT on July 14, 2024   Entries will be eligible for the Entry Period in which they are received and will not carryover to subsequent weekly entry periods.  You must enter into each weekly Entry Period separately.   How to Enter: We invite you to participate in a quest to provide "Accepted Solutions" to as many questions as you can. Answers can be provided in all the communities.
