Do not allow multiple registration for the same user

I have the following requirement,

There is form which allow user to register his team for an event. When the user submits the form there is a successful screen pops up.

But when the same user or any user from that team tries to register and click on the registration button. It should take him to  the page where it shows the team has already been registered.

The data source is Sharepoint list and the user will be logged in using the email id and the registration also has email id. So is there anyway this can be implemented using power apps. or Power automate in anyway.

Thanks in advance

Hi @vadiraj1100 ,

Assuming the Event is a unique value and they select Team, you would have something like this (this is a syntax idea only as you have not provided any field or control names)

If(
   !IsBlank(
      Lookup(
         YourListName,
         Event = YourEventDDName.Selected.Event &&
         Team = YouTeamDDName.Selected.Team
      ).Team
   ),
   Notify("Already registered")
)

Hi @WarrenBelz

I have elaborated my issue here,

Below you can see the registration page , There is a team name and number of members in a team and the each member details to be entered.

The person who comes to register can be anyone from the team. the data of all team members entered is stored in the sp list.

So before the submit can I check if the member who is registering is already part of the team based on his email id and take him to screen saying you have already registered for this event or you are already part of some team

@vadiraj1100 ,

Can you please provide your list names and the field names in these. In particular, how do you tie the bottom list with the top one (what is the linking field)

@WarrenBelz,

These fields are all from the single list name 'Hackathon' (this is the event name).

@vadiraj1100 ,

Can you please provide the items I asked - if the Event Name is in both lists, what are the names of the fields in these lists. Can you please provide also the other field names - I am trying to put together some code for you.

@WarrenBelz,

As I said these are not different list the divider is just to make it easier for user to differentiate the members of the team.

1) all the fields are part of single form and single list and , Event name has nothing to do with the registration process.

2) when the user1 has entered all his team data assume (user2, user3... user7) and if any of these user (user1., user2 ...user7) comes to register in the app it should take them to screen saying they are already part of the team or their team is already registered

@vadiraj1100 ,

The below is what I can work out from the information you have provided - if a user selected an Email ID that already exists, they will get a warning.

With(
   {wList:YourListName},
   If(
      !IsBlank(
         LookUp(
            YourListName,
            'Team Name' =
            LookUp(
               wList,
               'eMail ID' = wList.'Email ID'
            ).'Team Name'
         )
      ),
      Notify("Team already registered", Error)
   )
)

I also have to assume here you are not capturing anything about the logged-in user automatically - just relying on them to select their Email ID.

Sorry but the problem statement was not clear maybe.

Let me try to explain in the simplest way possible.

1) there is a sharepoint list with the team details having 5 email id (This entry will be done as part of registration submission of the form I mentioned above)

2) If any of the 5 email id user comes to register the app and click on Registration button. Since they have already registered the user should be taken to screen with message .. You have already registered.

3) if the user is new and not part of any list entry he should be able to continue to registration page to register his team.

Here team name is not issue but the person who is coming to register the team should be tracked in anyway.

@vadiraj1100 ,

That is why I asked for all your list and field names - I cannot see your data and can only interpret what you tell me as best I can from the way you describe it. Can you please provide this and I should be able to give you the code you need. Note due to time zone (I am UTC +10), I will be offline shortly.
