I have an app that is the latest version of a one I've been working on for a while. One of the fields is called Status, with possible values of Open and Closed. The datasource is a SharePoint list, and Status is a Choice column in that list.
Everything was working fine, originally. When I was building the form, the Power Apps correctly added the Status field as a dropdown, and I had a Choices function pointing to that column in the data. The dropdown was correctly displaying either Open or Closed for each item. But in the course of finalizing the form, I needed to remove the Status field and re-add it, and when I did, the app created it as a dropdown, but it wasn't showing any data.
When I checked the Items, it had the expected Choices function, but references a field called "field_37" instead of Status.
As you can see, when I place the cursor at the end of the function, it shows the potential values for the Status field, but it's not showing in the dropdown the data for the particular record.
I have tried to correct the formula to reference "Status" instead of "field_37," but the app flags it as an error. I am completely at a loss. I don't know where this "field_37" designation is set or where it comes from, and I don't know how to fix whatever is wrong.
EDIT: I made another discovery. This edit form is populated based on the selection on a gallery. The gallery has a Filter to only display records for which Status is "Open." As an experiment, I removed the filter, and suddenly my Status dropdown is displaying data.
Mind you, all of this was working before. I have no idea what has occurred to wreck everything.

If you create a SP List from an Excel file, the technical name for the field will be "field_n", is that your case ?
So in this case, your app could have problems if you recreate the SP list from Excel.
Go in your SP List, List Settings and click on the field status, you should see field_37 in the url, like that
Depends on the place in Power App, the reference will be sometimes status and sometimes field_37 so use on or the other if it doesn't work.
You can accept it as solution if it helps you.

The challenge is open to all Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate, Copilot Studio & Power Pages) community members. We invite you to participate in a quest to provide solutions in the Forums to as many questions as you can. Answers can be provided in all the communities. Entry Period: This Challenge will consist of four weekly Entry Periods as follows (each an “Entry Period”) - 12:00 a.m. PT on June 17, 2024 – 11:59 p.m. PT on June 23, 2024 - 12:00 a.m. PT on June 24, 2024 – 11:59 p.m. PT on June 30, 2024 - 12:00 a.m. PT on July 1, 2024 – 11:59 p.m. PT on July 7, 2024 - 12:00 a.m. PT on July 8, 2024 – 11:59 p.m. PT on July 14, 2024 Entries will be eligible for the Entry Period in which they are received and will not carryover to subsequent weekly entry periods.
