Edit Form Doesn't show all the input values.

Hi,

I have created an application based on Sharepoint lists. I have created a Main List where all the data will be submitted. I have also created two more different lists. One for General Scope(Sharepoint2) and one for Mobile number & Name(Sharepoint3). So Sharepoint 2 & 3 are Combobox where I can add more inputs if it's not in the list and it gets added to the Sharepoint 2 & 3 if any thing thats not in the list is typed in the input field. I have Edit Form in the main form and the properties are:

On Select

ResetForm(Form1);EditForm(Form1); Navigate(inputData, ScreenTransition.Fade);

FIELDS not receiving the input value:

1. Ascent Rep Name

2. Ascent Rep Number

3. General Scope

4. Site Address

Things to Know: 1. & 2. is one separate Sharepoint linked with main sharepoint List and also 3 is in separate sharepoint linked with main sharepoint.

Main Sharepoint List:

main sharepoint list.png

Sharepoint List: Name & Number

Name and Number sharepoint list.png

Sharepoint List: GeneralScope

general scope sharepoint list.png

Properties of GeneralScope which is combobox:

Datacard  :  Update:

If(IsBlank(ComboBox2.Selected),ComboBox2.SearchText,ComboBox2.Selected.ascentGeneralScope)

Items property of combobox:

AscentGeneralScope.ascentGeneralScope

Properties of Rep Name and Number:

Items:

Rep Name:

'Ascent Rep Name and Number'.Title

Items Property of Rep Number:

'Ascent Rep Name and Number'.MobileNumber

Update Property of RepName:

If(IsBlank(Combobox2.Selected),Combobox2.SearchText,Combobox2.Selected.Title)

Update Property of RepNumber:

If(IsBlank(ComboBox1.Selected),ComboBox1.SearchText,ComboBox1.Selected.MobileNumber)

My Finding:

All the data card whose Default property is set to : Parent.Default Shows the input value. But others which are missing input values doesn't accept Default=Parent.Default and some have variable set on the Default value.

Let me know if you need any more information. Thank you.

Hi @Anonymous ,

So you have 3 lists, one is the main list and the other two are sub lists. Could you please tell the column types of those are blank in the Edit Form? Are they LookUp columns?

If they are not LookUp columns, assuming Text type, so you have customized the data cards to replace the default TextInput box with Combo boxes, you will need to:

1\ Set Items of the combo boxes to SP list name, such as

'Ascent Rep Name and Number'

2\ Edit the display field of the Combo box, set primary text and search field to the column you would like to display in the combo box dropdown. For example, name combo box would set to Title column.

3\ Since you will need to update new records to the two sub lists, you would better update before submitting the Form. If there is only one column need to update to sub list, your approach would work easily, however there are two columns Name and Number in the list and the number is relate to the name, so it would be to complicated to achieve that. You could add a button like an Add icon, OnSelect to navigate to a separate screen with a New Form connect to the sub list, then add a submit button to submit the form and navigate back to the main form screen.

SubmitForm(NewForm), Navigate(inputData, ScreenTransition.Fade,{varNewAdded:true})

Also you could save the new added record OnSuccess of the Form to a variable to make the combo box auto select the new added item:

Set(varNewName, NewForm.LastSubmited.Title);
Set(varNewNumber, NewForm.LastSubmited.Number)

DefaultSelectedItems of the Combo boxes in the edit form:

If(varNewAdded,
LookUp('Ascent Rep Name and Number', ascentRepName = varNewName),
LookUp('Ascent Rep Name and Number', ascentRepName = Gallery.Selected.ascentRepName)
)
If(varNewAdded,
LookUp('Ascent Rep Name and Number', mobileNumber = varNewNumber),
LookUp('Ascent Rep Name and Number', mobileNumber = Gallery.Selected.ascentRepNumber)
)

4\ Remember that in the Combo boxes, they are all RECORDS that you set in the Items property, so you will need to find the corresponding record with the help of LookUp function based on the value selected in the Gallery or in Parent.Default.

5\ Update property of the Data Card would only help decide what value would be updated to the Data Source of the Form, it would not create or update records in other data sources. This is why I said it's complicated above words.

Hope this helps.

Hi @v-jefferni ,

I didn't get the clear idea on 2nd number. 2\ Edit the display field of the Combo box, set primary text and search field to the column you would like to display in the combo box dropdown. For example, name combo box would set to Title column.

Hi @Anonymous ,

You will see those properties I mentioned on the right pane when the combo box is selected.

@v-jefferni  These are the ones I have .

Hi @Anonymous ,

Please follow the steps in my post step by step. I see that you have not put the right formula in the property.

Hi @v-jefferni ,

What should I do with the General Scope, Site address & Customer address which is a single column. Which also doesn't show when We try to edit.

General Scope Sharepoint .png

The Property of CustomerAddress:

Default:

If(IsBlank(AddressInput1.FreeformAddress),AddressInput1.UserInput,AddressInput1.FreeformAddress)

update:

AddressInput1.FreeformAddress

Default of Site Address:

custAdd

Update of Site Address:

If(DataCardValue1.Value,custAdd,AddressInput2.FreeformAddress)

form .png

On Change of "Same as Customer Address" Toggle:

Set(custAdd,If(IsBlank(AddressInput1.FreeformAddress),TemplateGalleryList1.Selected.siteAddress,AddressInput1.FreeformAddress))

Hi @v-jefferni ,

Update: While I edit it shows the Rep name and Number and General Scope. But with General Scope it says:

Incompatible types for comparision. These types can't be compared: Text, Boolean.

GeneraScopeBoolian.png

Another Issues:

When I try to select Rep Name it doesn't auto select Rep Number.

And also in our Main Form OnSuccess we updated last week the Patch Formula:

If(
    !IsBlank(varRepName) && IsBlank(
        LookUp(
            'Ascent Rep Name and Number',
            Title = Combobox2.SearchText
        )
    ),
    Patch(
        'Ascent Rep Name and Number',
        Defaults('Ascent Rep Name and Number'),
        {
            Title: varRepName,
            MobileNumber: varNumber
        }
    )
);
If(
    !IsBlank(varScope) && IsBlank(
        LookUp(
            AscentGeneralScope,
            ascentGeneralScope = varScope
        ).ascentGeneralScope
    ),
    Patch(
        AscentGeneralScope,
        Defaults(AscentGeneralScope),
        {ascentGeneralScope: varScope}
    )
)

Does this formula have anything to do now. Or I can delete this?

Hi @Anonymous ,

The formulas for OnSuccess is to add new rep name along with other information that users typed in the search fields of the combo boxes, so you are not supposed to delete them.

For the error, first of all you have missed a closing parenthesis in the end of the formula, and the varNewScope is supposed to be a Boolean value which apparently could not be compared with the Text value. I think you have lost the formula in step 3 of my reply.
