Edit Forms cards with visibility functions rearrange randomly after adding new card.

Has any of you noticed similar problem? I cannot replicate it with 100% accuracy but very often if I am editing an App and want to change the Edit Form, which was setup before and was working fine. I add new card, save the App and as I go into testing the whole Form is messed up and the cards rearrange themselves randomly. I have to go back and fix all the card by rearranging them.

It already happened two times today(plus several times over the past month) and just cause unnecessary delays and annoyance since my forms usually have over 20 custom cards and arranging them over and over in correct pattern takes some time.

IMPORTANT NOTE:

Only happens in forms which has functions on card visible property. Some of my forms, depending on what is the user action, will hide some cards.

How to reproduce ( >50% success ) :

Have a Edit Form which was working fine (at least 20 custom cards, with function in visible property)

Save and publish, go into form.

Go back into editing the app, click to add custom card, it will add the card at the bottom.

Click save and publish

Go into the app and access the form. The form elements will be all randomly arranged.

GO back into the App editor and you will have to rearrange all cards back to how they were.

Note:

If you arrange the cards and save it and publish it, it will stay good forever. This bug only appears to happen when you add a new card to a form.

Hi @Anonymous,

Thanks for the feedback.

Per testing, by changing the visible property of the custom DataCard to true or false, the DataCard List would shrink or expand within the form control.

The position would just stay in the order that the card has been configured to, in the right pane.

Besides, would you please share some more information about the function or formula that you configrued with the visible property?

Mostly the DataCard within the Form control is bound with the actual data fields in the Data Source, and we could rearrange the Cards order by draging and droping the item in the right pane.

My suggestion here is when adding the Custom Card, please take a try to arrange its positiion first, then save it.

Regards,

Michael

Hi @v-micsh-msft

None of my cards use simple Visible true/false they all have functions

Few examples:

#1

If(
    BrowseGallery1.Selected.SecondApprover.Email = UserProfile.Mail,
    true,
    false
)

This would show that field to the person who is assigned as Second Approver

#2

If(
    BrowseGallery1.Selected.Traveler.Email = UserProfile.Mail || BrowseScreenMode = "NEW",
    true,
    false
)

 This would show the card to the person who is the traveler or if my custom variable is set to “NEW”

Most cards follow similar pattern.

I have found a way to reproduce the issue 100% of the time on my app as well as to avoid the issue 100% of the time.

How to avoid issue.
To avoid the issue always open the EditScreen (or screen with your EditForm) when all fields are visible

Steps:

  1. Open PowerApps web editor
  2. When my App loads, I click Preview the app button (F5)
  3. And navigate to the EditScreen1, the item I opened up is an item where I see all the Cards

 10.png

  1. In the Data panel, I can see that all my cards are arranged correctly

4.png

How to get the issue
To always get the issue open the EditScreen or your EditForm while some cards are not visible due to formula (not simple true/false), right away the items will be out of order.

Steps:

1. Open PowerApps web editor

2. When the app loads click the EditScreen and select the EditForm

3. You can see that all the items are in different order than before

5.png

4. However, at this point if you enter the app (F5) and navigate to the EditForm the order will still be correct (even though it shows different order in the Edit Mode)

5. If you click to add new card it will drop it right after the only visible card.

6.png

Move it to the top and delete it

7.png

8.png

Now if you click to preview the app (F5) navigate to the EditForm and the cards are all messed up
