Email Image base64

Hello All,

I'm still working on sending an image as an attachment with the Mail connector and not using flow. From reading the about the attachments with the Mail connector it says it needs base64 so I found what appears to be a method to convert my collection to base64. I use this on the AddMedia button to collect and convert.

ClearCollect(ClickedPhoto,{Name:"Img"&CountRows(Data),ContentBytes:UploadedImage1.Image, '@odata,type':""});Set(varPic,JSON(UploadedImage1.Image,JSONFormat.IgnoreBinaryData));Set(EImage,Mid(varPic,24,Len(varPic)-24))

My email then looks like this.

Mail.SendEmailV3(ddTo.Selected.'Emails (Emails)'&", "&tiAddNote.Text,tiSubject.Text,HTMLBody.HtmlText,true,{filenames:"Picture",files:EImage})

This give me an error that says "Mail.SendEmailV3 Failed: The request was not sent or there was no response from the server. Check your internet connection." but the internet connection is good.

Anybody have any ides? I really need to include an image in the email without using Flow.

Thank you, I have watched that video and many of Shane's great videos but in his example he is using a website to convert to base 64. My images will be take on a device or from that devices library by users and will be different every time so this will not work although I have tried adding the base64 into my HTML email body but many email clients will not load base64 so it needs to be an attachment. Also he uses flow which I want to stay away from using. I would like it to all be done in the app.

Hi @StephenGW 

If it's just a single image, you can attach it directly from your 'add image' control without needing to base64 encode it like so.

Mail.SendEmailV3(ddTo.Selected.'Emails (Emails)'&","&tiAddNote.Text,
                 tiSubject.Text,
                 HTMLBody.HtmlText,
                 true,
                 {
                   filenames:"Picture",
                   files:UploadedImage1.Image
                 }
)

That does send the attachment but the attachment looks like a disk drive and my computer can't open it. Do you know how I can change that?

Change your formula to the following:

Mail.SendEmailV3(ddTo.Selected.'Emails (Emails)'&","&tiAddNote.Text,
                 tiSubject.Text,
                 HTMLBody.HtmlText,
                 true,
                 {
                   filenames:"Picture.jpg",
                   files:UploadedImage1.Image
                 }
)

As Randy says, the filename just needs an extension in order for the mail client to recognise the file type.
Alternatively, you can use this to use the filename of the actual file.

Change your formula to the following:

Mail.SendEmailV3(ddTo.Selected.'Emails (Emails)'&","&tiAddNote.Text,
                 tiSubject.Text,
                 HTMLBody.HtmlText,
                 true,
                 {
                   filenames:AddMediaButton1.FileName,
                   files:UploadedImage1.Image
                 }
)

Simple is the key!!  Go with simple first and you will usually not be disappointed.
