Hello
is there a way; I can create an item on a SP list and it will display as a clickable button on powerapps on the form, then I code code the button as normal, as if I had just added the button from the’ insert menu’ in powerapps ?
if the record on the sharepoint list was deleted / name edited it would update the button text ?
reason for this : I would like ‘screens’ where the buttons are text names but they can be controlled via a SP list weather than adding a button and text directly in powerapps
instead of the button text being ‘hard coded’ in powerapps it can be controlled via a sharepoint list entry ?
thsnk you

@AndyPowerAppNew It's not possible to put a button in that appears "without" doing this:
added the button from the’ insert menu’ in powerapps
but you can put a condition on the Control which should do what you want.
For example, you could, from inside the Button inside the Gallery, do something like this:
Suppose it's the Text property of a button
Switch(ThisItem.YourColumn, "New", "Create","Open","Close Case","Closed","Reopen Case")
Now suppose the Visible property of same button
Switch(ThisItem.YourColumn, "New", true,"Open",true,"Closed",true,false)
The above Button will be invisible for that Gallery Record if the status of the record. is not New, Open, or Closed.
You can do the same with the Color, etc.
See if it helps @AndyPowerAppNew
Thank you , e we oilfield you havre department buttons . Then they choose their name ? I guess we don’t want user to type name (as that’s mores chance of error ) what do you think ?
@AndyPowerAppNew Right there's no need to type their name if they are already signed in. I see you accepted my solution here Employee signin/out - I'm glad my most recent post helped you.
If you already did it that way in the post that you accepted as solution, then you never need anyone to type any name, you can just use the Record from StaffNames that if needed can easily be looked up again based on what you already have.
If you are saying that someone who is signed in must take an action on behalf of someone else, or change someone else's information for some reason, that's different. Make sure you really need to do this first before attempting - presume you don't need to even do this unless you're sure you do. If you are sure you need to do this, you may need functionality to type or select someone's name. Depending on your scenario, you may need to group them into things like Departments and Roles, you may need to check what department and role they are in, and only show a subset of staff (instead of every single staff member) based on what department the signed in user is in, and what role that person has. It can get even more complicated - for example, based on what role someone has, they should be allowed to make certain kinds of changes to the records but be prohibited from making other kinds of changes. What this means depends on the specific scenario.
If you don't need any of the above, and the operation is on the signed-in user only, you don't need any list of users of any kind at all.
Thank you, Im just looking at the signout and sign it, but it only lets me store one record at a time i will need to look at this, I'm not sure why this is
Hello, Patching record in Sharepoint list only works one time, not repeatedly? how can i make it work multiple times?
@AndyPowerAppNew Yes, it works repeatedly.
It keeps the same Record and overwrites the Sign In Time and Sign Out Time.
Is there a reason you need to keep a historical log of all the Sign In Times and Sign Out Times?
If so, the solution might be a bit more complex than what I already provided, but I have an idea to make it relatively simple for you to add it on.
1. Are you sure you need to keep a historical log of all the Sign In Times and Sign Out Times of one person?
If you don't need it then it is not worth wasting your time implementing it. It also will degrade the performance of your app and cause unnecessary complexity in the data model if you really never use it and don't need it.
2. If you are sure you really need it, explain why you need it in your reply - give an example how you will use the historical log of sign in and sign out times and dates for one person in your scenario - to make sure you really need it and aren't wasting your time.
Hi , will confirm back to you about this, I just thought your app. Cannot see staff pick name to sign in ? Would you be willing to export your project so I import my end ?
I have attached a working sample msapp file SignInOutApp_1.msapp of the app. I'll also consider to attach it to the solution you accepted in Employee signin/out
if you would like to import a full, working example yourself for your convenience.
To use the sample msapp attached, follow these steps:
1) Download the msapp file attached to this post (it's at the bottom of this post), to Desktop or a folder of your choice, by clicking on it from this post.
2) Create a new, blank Power App Canvas App
3) Click on the three dots / ellipses (just to the right of Settings)-> then from the menu that appears, click Open
4) Click Browse
5 ) Navigate to location of .msapp file from Step 1, select it, and press the "Open" button.
6 ) The working example msapp file should load
7) There will be errors showing up. So now you need to add the data source MyStaffList.
Follow the instructions here in the solution you accepted to build out the SharePoint List from scratch: Employee signin/out
