Error when trying to retrieve data from the network: "Form Name" failed: The response is not in a JSON format.

Hello experts, i have an app created in Power-apps and it is linked with SharePoint list. i have given user access to set of peoples and i gave access to SharePoint list as well. Users can able to open the App, but they are unable to select anything from the drop-down fields in Power-apps. whenever they try to select, they are getting the below error on the top of the screen.

i didn't use any JSON content in the app, but not sure why this error occurs. can anyone help me out?

is it because of the multiple lookup function i used to get the detail from Static Excel i added in app?

for ex: i used the below function in one field to get the MU detail from static excel based on the email selected from Datacardvalue8

Hi @prabhu8680 ,

I don't think the static Excel is helping here and also you will not get any further choices with those Items in the combo boxes - the Items needs to be something like

Office365Users.SearchUser(
   {
      searchTerm: Self.SearchText,
      top: 999
   }
)

 and you should not get any errors with this code, however I am wondering what it is you are trying to do as you cannot write anything to the Excel file.

Hi @prabhu8680 ,
Excel is not the best data source to use complex queries on at the best of times, but try this

Coalesce(
   LookUp(
      EmpDeatailsl,
      DataCardValue8.Selected.Email = 'Emp Email'
   ).'Emp Management Unit',
   LookUp(
      EmpDeatails2,
      DataCardValue8.Selected.Email = 'Emp Email'
   ).'Emp Management Unit'
)

or possibly this

With(
   {
      Data1:
      LookUp(
         EmpDeatailsl,
         DataCardValue8.Selected.Email = 'Emp Email'
      ).'Emp Management Unit',
      Data2:
      LookUp(
         EmpDeatails2,
         DataCardValue8.Selected.Email = 'Emp Email'
      ).'Emp Management Unit'
   },
   Coalesce(
      Data1,
      Data2
   )
)

@WarrenBelz  Thank you so much for your response, but anyhow the above function is also using the Lookup right, what would be the difference between the above approach and the one i used. if i use the above approach will fix my issue?

i have tried the first method you mentioned above, and it is correctly lookup the value (in fact my approach also correctly lookup the value), but the problem is, end user get the below error when open the app and they are not able to select anything from the Dropdown fields. it is not showing the options which is available in SharePoint list. also they are not able to search people from the Datacard field (which is Person or group type)

Hi @prabhu8680 ,

A different question to what you posted, so I will deal with the post first. As I mentioned Excel is not a good data source compared with SharePoint (which I now see you also have access to) and I regularly see Excel errors with code that should work. Your code also technically should work, however I was trying a couple of other options to see if they would. The next question relating to your current post is what is the Items property of the drop-down ?

oh no, i think i haven't cleared something. let me give the detailed structure.

'Individual to be released' and 'Your Experience Manager' fields mentioned in the above screenshot is from SharePoint list of 'Person or Group' type. and i have one static excel attached with application it contains employee related information,

prabhu8680_5-1673672685301.png

if user select the employee name from 'individual to be released' drop down, then the other details of the selected employee (like location, MU code , BU code etc...) will be looked up from static excel and get updated in other fields.

the item property of the above fields (screenshot) is of Choice type

I'm also experiencing the same problem. i created a power app but when user in my organisation open the app the they were unable to open the drop-down lists. And they're getting a error message also.
"Error when trying to retrieve data from the network: Access Request2023 failed: The response is not in a JSON format." Error message is as follows:

The below image is my power app canvas screen, here, these drop downs are not working for the organisation users.

The below is my one datacardvalue screenshot. "Access Request 2023" is my Microsoft Lists file.
