Fields unavailable when storing record as a global variable

Hi, when I store records as global variables from a gallery or a list:

Set(varSelected,Table1.Selected)

I am unable to access any fields that are not listed in the table itself. For example, if my table has Name, Phone Number, Email, and my entity has more fields like Address or ID, I can reference on other screens Name, Phone and Email but ID or Address return blank but do not return errors.  

Is there a way to store a record as a global variable with all of its fields accessible?

Hi @bwpescatore , Instead of setting a variable to a record in the table (the table that has partial fields), you can set it to a record in the datasource (or the table with all the fields) using lookup function.

Set(
  varSelected, 
  Lookup(
    DataSource, 
    Name = Table1.Selected.Name
  )
)

You can only access fields inside Table1 using your method. Use the main table which has all the fields to store the variable. Lookup is excellent for that purpose.

I thought it would have something to do with looking up the record in the database, however when I used Lookup as you suggest using the name field which is not the primary field, I could only retrieve the name at that point from the variable. 

I was able to get it working in a strange way which makes me think it may be bugged somehow. If I specifically referenced the field I wanted retrieved in a text field somewhere else on the screen, all of the sudden other instances where I called for the field started to populate. For example I have an edit form on this page and none of the fields were populating with the record's values. But when I created a dummy text field and asked to retrieve those fields using varSelected.XXX, after refreshing the screen the form fields would populate.

Yes, you will need to varSelected.XXX everywhere you want any field in the record. I should have mentioned that 🙂
