Filter Gallery

Hi @WarrenBelz ,

Below is the code i am using to filter gallery. This code works fine without any issues. However, i need to show all my checkbox checked on loading the below screen. I tried setting default of checkbox to true inside the gallery, however filter doesnt work properly on loading first time. May i know where is the issue?

Main Gallery Items Property

Filter(
Items,
(
Len(TextInputCanvas1_3.Value) = 0 ||
TextInputCanvas1_3.Value||TextInputCanvas1.Value in 'Name' ||
TextInputCanvas1_3.Value||TextInputCanvas1.Value in Description ||
TextInputCanvas1_3.Value||TextInputCanvas1.Value in 'Price' ||
TextInputCanvas1_3.Value||TextInputCanvas1.Value in 'Category'
) &&
(
(
CountRows(colSelectionGal) = 1 ||
'Item Category' in colSelectionGal.Value
)
) &&
(
IsBlank(varcheckedGal) ||
Switch(
varcheckedGal,
"Under $50",
Amount >= 0 && Amount < 50,
"$50 - $100",
Amount >= 50 && Amount < 100,
"$100 - $200",
Amount >= 100 && Amount < 200,
"Above $200",
Amount >= 200
)
)
)

Filter by Department Gallery - Items Property

Distinct(Filter(Items,'Item Category'),'Item Category')

Filter by Department Gallery - OnCheck Property

Collect(
colSelectionGal,
{Value: ThisItem.Value}
)

Filter by Department Gallery - OnUnCheck Property

RemoveIf(
colSelectionGal,
Value = ThisItem.Value
)

Filter by Amount Gallery - Items Property

Distinct(Filter(Filter,Amount),Amount)

Filter by Amount Gallery - OnCheck Property

UpdateContext({varcheckedGal:Gallery5_1.Selected.Value})

Filter by Amount Gallery - OnUnCheck Property

UpdateContext({varcheckedGal:Blank()})

)

Hello @Iantaylor2050

Here is the Answer:

The filter does not work when you have the Defaulted to (checked), because the OnCheck, event will not Fire. If it doesn't fire, then it doesn't set your context variables.

If the variables aren't set, then the filter doesn't work.

This means IF you are going to have them Defaulted to Checked, then in the OnStart or OnVisible you need to set Update your Context variables, just like if the OnCheck was called. So that they are set properly.

However, I would like to suggest, that you do not use Context variables at all. Instead, change your filter, to read the Value of the Check Component directly. That way it WILL always work, even if you Default them to Checked or Unchecked.

Hi @FLMike

Yes, I have removed the context variable and amended the Items property of the gallery as per below. I am using multiselect combobox and set the default selected items of multiselect combobox to checkbox selection.

Despite changing the code as per below, filter doesnt work at all for Amount range. May i know where i am going wrong?

Default Selected Items of combobox

Filter(AmountGallery.AllItems,Checkbox4_1.Value)

Items property of Main Gallery

Filter(
Items,
(Len(TextInputCanvas1_3.Value) = 0 || TextInputCanvas1_3.Value || TextInputCanvas1.Value in 'Item Name' || TextInputCanvas1_3.Value || TextInputCanvas1.Value in Description || TextInputCanvas1_3.Value || TextInputCanvas1.Value in 'Unit Price(USD)' || TextInputCanvas1_3.Value || TextInputCanvas1.Value in 'Item Category') && ((CountRows(colSelectionGal) = 1 || 'Item Category' in colSelectionGal.Value)) && (IsBlank(ComboBox3.SelectedItems) || ("Under $50" in ComboBox3.SelectedItems && Amount >= 1 && Amount < 50) Or ("$50 - $100" in ComboBox3.SelectedItems && Amount >= 50 && Amount < 100) Or ("$100 - $200" in ComboBox3.SelectedItems && Amount >= 100 && Amount < 200) Or ("Above $200" in ComboBox3.SelectedItems && Amount >= 200))
)

@Iantaylor2050

Ok now you are changing what you are asking. So this is a totally different problem. Problem 1 was answered, so I'd be grateful if my marked my answer as such.

As for this new question, please note that filtering by Multi-Select can be a pain, especially in your case since you are using the same values of the multi-select multiple times.

Hi @FLMike

May i know what would be the best solution for below scenario then? Filter by Department multiselect has no problem. Only problem is with Filter by amount range multiselect as per screenshot below

Iantaylor2050_0-1696692101348.png

@Iantaylor2050

I want to make sure we are saying the same things.

I was referring to this ComboBox3.SelectedItems

So when you say Filter by Department multiselect has no problem

I would have to see, what it is, as by default using the expression IN expression with most mutil-select comboboxes, it just doesn't. So I want to make sure I am helping your filter work for sure.

Happy to help. So are you going to use the Checkboxes or continue with the comboboxes or are they the same thing but different filters?

Hi @FLMike

For filter by department, i am using checkboxes and collection which works fine as per below code.

Filter(
Items,
(Len(TextInputCanvas1_3.Value) = 0 || TextInputCanvas1_3.Value || TextInputCanvas1.Value in 'Item Name' || TextInputCanvas1_3.Value || TextInputCanvas1.Value in Description || TextInputCanvas1_3.Value || TextInputCanvas1.Value in 'Unit Price(USD)' || TextInputCanvas1_3.Value || TextInputCanvas1.Value in 'Item Category') && ((CountRows(colSelectionGal) = 1 || 'Item Category' in colSelectionGal.Value))

For filter by Amount range, i am using combobox to filter multiselect items but it doesnt work.

Filter(Items, (IsBlank(ComboBox3.SelectedItems) || ("Under $50" in ComboBox3.SelectedItems && Amount >= 1 && Amount < 50) Or ("$50 - $100" in ComboBox3.SelectedItems && Amount >= 50 && Amount < 100) Or ("$100 - $200" in ComboBox3.SelectedItems && Amount >= 100 && Amount < 200) Or ("Above $200" in ComboBox3.SelectedItems && Amount >= 200)))
