ForAll Patch Collection into SharePoint List

I'm fairly new to PowerApps and I'm encountered an obstacle. I've created a First Aid Cabinet inventory app to use in our facility. Employees submit requests for first aid supplies that are stored in a SharePoint list. Each request has yes/no field called RestockStatus. There is a screen in my app with a data table that shows a list of all open requests. When employees submit requests I look at this screen(RequestList) to see all of the items I need to restock in the various first aid cabinets. When I restock all of the items in the data table in the first aid cabinets I want to select a button that will update all of the existing records in the data table from no(false) to yes(true) in the SharePoint list. The data in the data table is based on a collection named UpdatePatch. My SharePoint list is named 'First Aid Restock'. I've created a ForAll Patch loop that will patch the updates from the PowerApp into SharePoint - but it will only do it for the first record and then it stops. It does not give any errors.  I need it to patch all the updates to the records in the collection to my SharePoint list. Here is my code:

ForAll(
UpdatePatch,
Patch(
'First Aid Restock',
First(UpdatePatch),
{RestockStatus:1}
)
);

Again, this code will patch the updates to the first record in the collection to SharePoint but then it stops. If I navigate away from  the screen the button is on and come back to it I can click the button again and it will update the next record - one at a time. I need to be able to click the button and patch all of the updates to the records in the collection to the SharePoint list.

Hi @Anonymous ,
 You need to be able to match the record from UpdatePatch to the correct one in the list, so assuming you have the ID of the record in UpdatePatch

ForAll(
   UpdatePatch As myPatch,
   Patch(
      'First Aid Restock',
      (ID:myPatch.ID},
      {RestockStatus:1}
   )
)

Warren,

That worked perfectly. Thanks for the help.

Hey @WarrenBelz

I've been looking for a while for a way to 'patch' a collection as an update to a SharePoint list. Many of the things I find don't work for my application.

This method seems like a possible solution, although I can't adopt it. Can you help me, or give me more information about the given code?

I modified the code to:

ForAll(
   Artikellijst_Filter As myPatch;
   Patch(
      Magazijn;
      {Title: myPatch.Artikelcode};
      {Aantal: - myPatch.Totaal}
   )
)

Edit: See the changes in the code: { vs (

I also tried the following code:

ForAll(
   Artikellijst_Filter As myPatch;
   Patch(
      LookUp(Magazijn; Title = myPatch.Artikelcode);
      {Aantal: - myPatch.Totaal}
   )
)

and

ForAll(
   Artikellijst_Filter As MyPatch;
   Patch(
      First(Filter(Magazijn; Title = MyPatch.Artikelcode));
      {Aantal: - MyPatch.Totaal}
   )
)

I have a collection 'Artikellijst_Filter'. Which should be updated to a SharePoint list 'Magazijn'.

The Title is unique and equal to the 'Artikelcode'.
The quantity should be changed to Aantal - Totaal (from the collection).

This is my collection-code:

Artikellijst_Filter;
    AddColumns(
        GroupBy(
            Artikellijst;
            "Artikelcode";
            "Project";
            "Subproject";
            "GroupedRecord"
        );
        "Totaal";
        Sum(
            GroupedRecord;
            Aantal
        );
        "Omschrijving";
        First(GroupedRecord).Omschrijving
    )
);;

The columns in the SharePoint list do not match the columns in the collection (the SharePoint list contains more columns).

Thanks in advance!

Arne

HI @Arne_R ,

Your GroupBy will not "line up" with the list as you will have several records matching your list in the grouped records and also you are also grouping  by multiple values, compounding the issue, although this

ForAll(
   Artikellijst_Filter As myPatch;
   Patch(
      LookUp(Magazijn; Title = myPatch.Artikelcode);
      {Aantal: - myPatch.Totaal}
   )
)

 should patch something back

Hi @WarrenBelz

Thank you for the fast reply.

Hmm, for some reason I can't even do the following:

Patch(
    LookUp(
        Magazijn;
        Title = "8820502"
    );
    {Aantal: -1}
);;

Title = artikelcode, but this is the first column in SharePoint, so I need to take 'Title'.
I Hardcoded the variable (8820502), without any result in the patch.

I'll look for the error. I'll open a new topic if needed. Thanks in advance.

Arne

Hi,

I solved my problem. This works 🙂

ForAll(
    Artikellijst_Filter As MyPatch;
    Patch(
        Magazijn;
        First(
            Filter(
                Magazijn;
                Title = Text(MyPatch.Artikelcode)
            )
        );
        {Aantal: LookUp(Magazijn; Title= Text(MyPatch.Artikelcode)).Aantal - Value(MyPatch.Totaal)}
    )
);;

Thx for your suggestion @WarrenBelz

Arne_R you my friend have saved me a lot of work!!!  I have been struggling to get my ForAll Patch funtion to work.  It would update the first item but go no further or it would update both items with the same amount.  It seems there are a lot of people that want to Patch or Update a list but they are setting a single field to the same value.

Thank You again.  This worked great for me!

I am new to power apps, i pulled a template for a help desk and updated the values that i need to.  But i am trying to connect the Collection (ticketlist) to a sharepoint list.  The sharepoint has the following headers:

Lvdata_0-1696347993141.png

The code which was already there:

Set(NumberOfTickets,NumberOfTickets + 1);
Patch(TicketList,Defaults(TicketList),{Id:NumberOfTickets,
Title:CreateTicketScreenTitleText.Text,
Priority: CreateTicketScreenPriorityDropDown.SelectedText.Value,
Author:MyProfile.Mail,
TaskStatus:"NOT STARTED",
PercentComplete: "0",
Created:Now(),
AssignedTO:"",
Description:CreateTicketScreenTaskDescription.Text,
Editor:MyProfile.Mail,
Modified:Now(),
Category:CreateTicketScreenCategoryDropDown.SelectedText.Value });

Reset(CreateTicketScreenTitleText);
Reset(CreateTicketScreenTaskDescription);
Reset(CreateTicketScreenCategoryDropDown);
Reset(CreateTicketScreenPriorityDropDown);
Navigate(ConfirmSubmitScreen,BorderStyle.None)

The code i entered into the submit button to get the collection placed into my sharepoint list:

ForAll(
TicketList As myTicket,
Patch(
'GDAT Help Desk',
(Id:myTicket}

Please let me know how to get this work.

Thank you

Hi @Lvdata

First of all I changed your syntax:

ForAll(
    TicketList As myTicket;
    Patch(
        'GDAT Help Desk';
        {Id: myTicket}
    )
)

But this won't work I guess ("Id"). Can you give me more info about your collecion Ticketlist?

Are you trying to add the list, or adjust the list?

Take a look at:
