Form Datacard Visibility

Hi - I have a form which starts with about 200 fields from a sharepoint list. I am wishing to:

1) By default have all the datacards in the form with visible=false without having to manually code each one

2) When a button is selected on the screen its shows a selection of fields from the form, there are 9 sections of 10 fillable fields eg section button 1 sets all form fields visibility to false and I can name the sections 10 fields to visible=true

3) then when the next section button is selected for an alternative section (they may or may not be completed sequentially by the user) again all form fields are set to visible=false, so the previous sections fields are no longer visible, and the 10 fields for this section become visible.

I am really just trying to avoid having to set 200 datacards to false just to get 10 fields visible and hoping there is a global setting I can change or create a global form variable and set.

There is no global setting to do this.  They all need to be adjusted.

You can shift-select each datacard in your form and then set them all at the same time, but since, in your case, each has individual logic to when it is visible, you are still faced with touching each one individually.

There is an easier way to set the formula for Visible to be uniform for all the controls though.

Example: 

On a button or other control, set the following formula:  

    UpdateContext({lclShow: ["Field1", "Field3", "Field4"]})

Where the field1, etc. are the names of fields in the form.

Then set all the datacard Visible properties to:  Self.FieldName in lclShow.Value

Any fields that are defined in the variable would then be shown.

Thanks - Is it possible to maybe do a for each field loop within the form so it would run through and turn visible to false? I'm just thinking back to VBA and wondering if there is an equivalent as I am turning all off and then can just name the ten I need to be visible.

PowerApps is not a development/code platform.  There is no such ability to set properties in PowerApps.  All properties must derive their values through direct assignment or a formula to produce the value desired.

So...no!  There is not such an ability.

However the solution I offered would be very effective and easy to put in place.  All datacards can be selected together (although manually with a shift-click) and then the Visible property can all be set at the same time.  Using the formula I provided would give you complete control over all of the datacards with a single variable assignment.

Thanks - It worked with a couple of small modifications, I used 

Self.DataField in lclShow.Value in each of the Visible fields of the form

and then put the DataField names in from their Advanced Properties section into the UpdateContext({lclShow: ["DataField1", "DataField2", "DataField3"]}) into the OnSelect of the button.

Yes, this is the easiest way!  It really lets you drive the app with data...which is one of the "PowerApps ways!"
