Form data fields not saving

Hi

I've got a PowerApps form linked to a SharePoint list. All the data cards are custom ones, but we've bound the controls as they should be so that they should populate from the list on load, and save back on submit.

However, while all fields appear to load successfully (i.e. we can access the data card default value), some fields save back to the list and others don't. We've established that the data cards themselves are the issue. We've gone as far as entering a text string in the Update property of the data card. For problem cards, these values don't get written back to the list.

I've exported the app and dug into the json for the form in question and I can see this difference. On cards that work, the json for the ControlPropertyState of the data card looks like this:

{
   "InvariantPropertyName": "DataField",
   "AutoRuleBindingEnabled": true,
   "AutoRuleBindingString": "",
   "NameMapSourceSchema": "?",
   "IsLockable": true,
   "AFDDataSourceName": ""
}

However on the ones that don't, it looks like this:

{
   "InvariantPropertyName": "DataField",
   "AutoRuleBindingEnabled": false,
   "AutoRuleBindingString": "\"SharePointFieldName\"",
   "NameMapSourceSchema": "?",
   "IsLockable": true,
   "AFDDataSourceName": ""
}

Removing the data card and re-adding creates cards with AutoRuleBindingEnabled true, and those re-added cards then save correctly.

I can't see any option other than to go through the cards, removing and re-adding them, but I'd be interested to know how this has occurred in the first place, as I'm concerned it might happen again at some random point in the future. If anyone can shed any light on this I'd be very grateful.

Duncan

I have had the same exact issue and couldn't fix it for almost 6 month now.

As an addition here, same applies to Power Automate when accessing SharePoint fields: Use the internal names!

I have what I thought was this issue, but that field still won't populate after deleting and remaking the card. Advice?

This comment may have just solved my problem. At some point the Update property of my datacard got cleared. Thank you so much for this!

I have same issue, I renamed some fields in the source list at some point, and it broke some things. I fixed, or so I thought but now some of the fields don't update on save while others do. I've deleted and readded cards and no dice, still no load.  Any idea how to re-enable?

My organization is just starting to use PowerApps and I'm having this issue also.  It seems like VERY basic functionality that a basic form should be able to do with no problems at all. Yet I notice that this thread started in Spring of 2020, and people (like me and others) are still having the exact same issue now in Fall of 2023.  I'm assuming this means the powerapps platform is stagnant and no improvements are being made?  After spending way to much time building a very simple app, I can confidently say, it feels like a toy, or simple a half-hearted gesture at what it claims to be.  Does it get better?  Is there literally no solution to this?  You can't build a simple form and click save to save the data?  This is the very foundation of data entry?  Please let me know before I delve to far into this. We don't have the time/money to waste on half-hearted MS hobby projects.
