Form validation in PowerApps

Hi All,

I am struggling to find posts on basic form validation.

What im looking for is a way to validate my form before submitting it

Example, i ahve a Yes/No switch, i want to check if the switch is yes, then ensure another field has a value, otherwise show an error message and prevent form submission until its fixed.

Current setup

> A Screen with a Form that is connected to a SharePoint list.

> All fields are in Data Cards (StarVisible, ErrorMessage, DataCardValue, DataCardKey are all present)

> I have a Yes/No switch and a Text input in separate Data Cards

> I want to set the Textfields error message to something if Yes is selected but the textfield is empty. have tried IsEmpty,IsBlank and ="" but none of them seem to work

Things ive tried

>Ive tried setting the ErrorMessage.Text="my error message" from the OnChange/OnSelect/OnCheck/OnUncheck without success.

>Ive tried using a Rule to set the ErrorMessage.Text but that doesnt work either

I have no idea how to set the ErrorMessages error message?

Other questions

Is there some sort of Validation function i can run when the Submit button is pressed that has to evaluate to true before the form is submitted? that would mean i could wrap up my validation checks in one spot?

Thanks for the tips guys, i have been working through some of the requirements.

so far i am using each Data Cards - error label to handle most of the pre-submission error checks. For Submission checks, im simply checking all of the error labels and if i find any that are Visible, im not letting the form submit until the error checks make the error label invisible.

Its a different way of thinking that is for sure...

Depending on the requirements, you can also use:

If(SubmitForm(Form1);Navigate(Created;ScreenTransition.CoverRight))

So if you have made a field mandatory in the form, it will not navigate to the next screen

the Syntax is wrong !!   If(SubmitForm(EditForm1), Navigate(BrowseScreen,ScreenTransition.Fade))

Hi. I have used the Submit Form function for a form where I submit it on Button Click and it works fine. However for another form, I do not submit the entire form but patch few columns in existing record. In such cases, how do we ensure that the form does not navigate to next screen and trigger mail when the button is clicked ? Please help..

Your are correct, he should have used a commas instead of semicolons.
