Gallery Matrix to Aggregate Sharepoint List

Hi team,

I have a sharepoint list that is like this (sample data here):

My desire output is to aggregate this data and show it in a matrix format for previous 6 weeks like so:

For each week the and the three items are times by the discount then totalled.

This is easily done in exel/PowerBI for powerapps I am not sure how to keep the dates rolling forward.

I try to use Addcolumns, GroupBy method but I cant seem to collect the correct output I tried grouping by the Name column but then cant filter for the dates and via versa. Please advise how I can take this forward espically with filtering dates.

To save you any more time, you cannot do this as it is not possible to dynamically refer to field names - you would have to hard-code them.

Hi @Anonymous  - As pointed out by WarrenBelz, you cannot dynamically apply different field names. - though if you are dead set on this output there is a potential workaround you could try.

If you dynamically create your column headers in a separate Gallery which sits on top of/is aligned with your main gallery, this gives the same effect and allows your table and headers (even though they are in a separate gallery) to all update dynamically.

Please see the following GIF, and attached msapp file. I have split the main expressions over buttons 2,3 and 4 for ease of review - but there is no reason why you could not combine this all into one button/action and make some refinements to the code as you go.

Note the code is fixed to update only 6 columns, so if you ever wanted to change this, the code would need to be adjusted. Also, some of the functions used in here are not delegable to SPO Lists, so you would need to ensure the nr of records in the list is below the delegation limit you have set in your app.

I will leave you with @AmDev - I was reluctant to head down the nested Horizontal/Vertical gallery idea (which is a good one if you only want a visual presentation) as I did not know your experience and there is quite a bit of complexity putting this together.

@AmDev  Thank you very much for your reply. Your solution is very elegant and is exactly what I need. Unfortunately, I may end up using Sharepoint so this will cause issue with delegation as you mentioned.

After digging around on google for an afternoon I made my own solution. It is not as elgant but seems to work and allows users to filter to a week they want. It hasnt given me any delegation errors so I am happy with that. I just add this here for anyone who also needs this but isn't to savy with PowerApps as well 🙂

Let me know if you have other elegant way of storing dates into variables. As this was my way of comparing and filtering values for each week.

I created a Dropdown which lists all the distinct WeekEndings that I have.

Then in the OnChange properties:

Set(SelectedWeek, DateValue(Dropdown1_1.Selected.Result));
Set( OneWeekBefore, DateAdd(SelectedWeek -7,Days));
Set( TwoWeekBefore, DateAdd(SelectedWeek -(7*2),Days));
Set( ThreeWeekBefore, DateAdd(SelectedWeek -(7*3),Days));
Set( FourWeekBefore, DateAdd(SelectedWeek -(7*4),Days));
Set( FiveWeekBefore, DateAdd(SelectedWeek -(7*5),Days));

On my Gallery > Items:

GroupBy(RawDataTable, "NameABC", "GroupData")

Then I created 6 Lables
Lable 1 for lastest selected week > Text:

Sum(Filter(ThisItem.GroupData,WeekEnding = SelectedWeek), Sales*Discount)

Lable 2 for one week before selected week > Text: 

Sum(Filter(ThisItem.GroupData,WeekEnding = OnWeekBefore), Sales*Discount)

ETC...
Then ontop of the gallery I used another 6 lables that uses stored variables from the drop down to dynamically change the dates. e.g:
Lable 1 related to Lable 1 in gallery> Text = SelectedWeek
Lable 2 related to Lable 2 in gallery> Text = OneWeekBefore
Lable 3 related to Lable 3 in gallery> Text = TwoWeekBefore

Hi @Anonymous - sorry for the delay, it's been a tight week!

Thanks for sending those details through - Your approach is quite similar and uses the same concept to present dynamic headers.

Something to be mindful of is sometimes it wont flag a delegation warning, even though the query in the expression isn't delegable. Not sure if this is the case for you, but if you are using the 'Distinct' function in your date dropdown, distinct isn't delegable. One way round this would be to use a collection, as per the Button 2 expression above and just bind that collection to the items property of your drop down. You can change how many previous weekend options you want in the dropdown by just adjusting the nr in the 'Sequence' function.

Another one to look out for is Groupby - this isn't delegable, but if you are able to pre-filter the source inside the GroupBy function to always just be the data for the 6 weeks you are interested in, then you will not have any issues - that is assuming that the prefiltered 6 weeks of data will always have less rows than your delegation limit in the app.

Thanks for pointing those out. I will try using the suggestions you provided to avoid delegation. At the moment I have only added a sample size data to test. I should make the sample larger and test for those to make sure that things work smoothly.
