Help in choosing the app model for the requirement

Hi all, I am very new to Power apps and I am looking to build small app which will do the following :

The app has 4 main criteria (just a selection of text) and 3 Sub criteria for each criteria. 

Depending on the selection of Criteria and any of the respective sub-criteria, the app should show a corresponding text(result of the selections).

I am unable to figure out how to structure the app. This is an app to help with decision making and depending on the choices the user makes he gets a suggestions. This is not data driven but more based on just preset elements. Could anyone suggest how to get about solving this.

I tried using a drop down for criteria and sub criteria but Having trouble creating the logic as "if" "and" or "Switch" for each of the conditions would lead to many conditions and I am not sure if Its possible on power apps.

It sounds like:

• The user of the app will select 4 criteria from some kind of control (drop down, radio, etc.)
• You want to summarize their selections.

I am thinking that first what you need to know is how to reference controls. Attached below is a sample app that shows how to reference the selection in different kinds of controls (In studio, File > Open > Browse for the msapp file).

You may recognize concatenation from Microsoft Excel:

"Dropdown: " & Dropdown1.Selected.Value & Char(10) & 
"ComboBox: " & ComboBox1.Selected.Value1 & Char(10) & 
"Radio: " & Radio1.Selected.Value & Char(10) & 
"Toggle: " & Toggle1.Value & Char(10) & 
"Slider: " & Slider1.Value

In the formula above, I'm referencing the selection in various controls separated by Char(10) which is a carriage return. Instead of cell names like Excel, you're drilling into each control and its properties with dots (.).

Next, you can put in conditions around the control's value. Below are examples of switch and If. In isolation, changing their value based on conditions could look like this:

Switch(Dropdown1.Selected.Value,
    "1","a",
    "2","b",
    "c"
)

"If 1 is selected, show "a", If 2 is selected, show "b", etc."

If(
    Radio1.Selected.Value=1,
    "a",
    "b"
)

 Integrated with the rest of the summary, it could look like this:

Thanks a lot for you reply and the effort @Mr-Dang-MSFT, but my question was how you check a condition where you select an option from the drop dow, another element from the multi select and an option form the radio button.

Now I want to show something when you make this selection and only when you make this selection. Each combination of these options should be evaluated to show something different for each combination.

My issues is in evaluating these options - If "option 1" (in the drop box), "Item 1"(in the multi-select) and "option 1" on the radio button should show a message - " Result 1". IF can evaluate on one expression and SWITCH also on one expression, whereas I need

if exp1 & exp2 & exp 3 = "Result 1".

The structure you're looking for to have multiple conditions and multiple outcomes could look like this:

If(
    And(
        Dropdown1.Selected.Value="1",
        ComboBox1.Selected.Value1="1",
        Radio1.Selected.Value=1
    ),
    result1,

    And(
        condition1,
        condition2,
        condition3
    ),
    result2,

    And(
        condition1,
        condition2,
        condition3
    ),
    resultN,

    resultElse
)

This means, "If these 3 conditions are all true, show result1. If not, move onto the next set of conditions to show result2. Go through each condition in order until a set of conditions is satisfied, else show resultElse."

Unlike Excel, 'If' in Power Apps can list multiple pairs of condition+result separated by commas and without the need to nest parentheses.

You can mix and match as much And(), Or(), Switch(), and If()s that you want.
