This date are manually input, but i want the app constantly update and check if the date is close.

I attached some the image of the fields i want to change

Hi @Luispowerapps,

1). To display the status is easy, however it is necessary for you to do the patch thing if you want to save the status back to your data source, that's why you said that this works only for a new form. Actually, it will also works on an edit form because it works always based on the selected date.

2). I have provided a normal formula for your reference. Since I don't know the specific logic that makes your status change, I could not help you modify your logic, which depends on your side.

3). "and only i can see the "Avivable" status and the "expire soon" status. The  "expired" status appears blank", this makes me confused, what do you mean by the expired status appears blank? You mean when the condition is met, the Expired status could not be populated in the ComboBox?

Since you have mentioned that you have an expiration date field, so I only compare the status with the expired date.

4). Hope you get that the words behind the "//" is just a clarification, the Or condition means the following DateDiff() function for the available status instead of adding an Or() behind the ".SelectedDate".

|| DateDiff(
        DateValue1_1.SelectedDate ,
        Now(),
        Days
    ) < 0

Qi

Hi @Luispowerapps,

Do you want to update the status based on how many days until the expiration date?

Could you please tell me that how you define the different status corresponding to date range?

For example, if there are 3 days left until the expiration date, we call it "Expire soon", we could compare the expiration date with the Today() date as below.

If(
    DateDiff(
        DateValue1_1.SelectedDate + Time(
            Value(HourValue1_1.Selected.Value),
            Value(MinuteValue1_1.Selected.Value),
            0
        ),
        Now(),
        Days
    ) <= 3 && DateDiff(
        DateValue1_1.SelectedDate + Time(
            Value(HourValue1_1.Selected.Value),
            Value(MinuteValue1_1.Selected.Value),
            0
        ),
        Now(),
        Days
    ) > 0,
    "Expire soon",
    DateDiff(
        DateValue1_1.SelectedDate + Time(
            Value(HourValue1_1.Selected.Value),
            Value(MinuteValue1_1.Selected.Value),
            0
        ),
        Now(),
        Days
    ) > 3,
    "Avivable",
    DateDiff(
        DateValue1_1.SelectedDate + Time(
            Value(HourValue1_1.Selected.Value),
            Value(MinuteValue1_1.Selected.Value),
            0
        ),
        Now(),
        Days
    ) <= 0,
    "Expired"
)

Hi, thanks for the fast response, it goes like this:

yes, 3 days for "expire soon" works for me.

The "expired" status is when 0 days left or days negative of the actual date

and everything else apart of those 2 status is  "up to date"

Aditional question: in order to work the expresition where should i paste it, in the formula field called "Text" on the estatus?

Hi @Luispowerapps,

The formula I provided works on the Default property of the TextInput control or Text property of the label control, which depends on which control you used to update the status.

Best Regards,
Qi

How i doit wicth values from the formula should i remplace, or theres a shorter version of this formula i dont understand how appy it

Best regards,

Hi @Luispowerapps,

Does it exist in a display form? If so, I want to tell you this formula could only do the display thing, but not save the status back to the data source.

If you want to save status back to the data source, you should go to an Edit Form and find the data card corresponding to the status and set the Update property with the provided formula.

Here is something doc about form:

Hi @Luispowerapps,

Set the DefaultSelectedItems property of the status data card value as below:

If(
    DateDiff(
        DateValue1_1.SelectedDate,
        Now(),
        Days
    ) <= 3 && DateDiff(
        DateValue1_1.SelectedDate,
        Now(),
        Days
    ) > 0,
    {Value:"Expire soon"},
    DateDiff(
        DateValue1_1.SelectedDate, //Replace DateValue1_1 with your expirate date
        Now(),
        Days
    ) > 3,
    {Value:"Avivable"},
    DateDiff(
        DateValue1_1.SelectedDate,
        Now(),
        Days
    ) <= 0,
    {value:"Expired"}
)

Note that you shoule change the "Available" into {Value:"Available"}

Thank  you! we almost there! The only value that triggers is "Expire soon" if i input a random date or a supposed expired date the status control stays blank....it will be best practice leave it in 2 Status? {Value:"Expire soon"} and {Value:"Expired"} and everything else outside that is {Value:"Available"}

in the attached photo's as you can see i input a future date and the status is blank.

Best regards,

Luis

Hi @Luispowerapps,

You mean when we select a date much greater than today, it should be available as well, like expiration date is 25/2/2023, and today is 22/2/2023, the status should be available, right?

If so, we just need to add an Or condition with the second condition as below:

If(
    DateDiff(
        DateValue1_1.SelectedDate,
        Now(),
        Days
    ) <= 3 && DateDiff(
        DateValue1_1.SelectedDate,
        Now(),
        Days
    ) > 0,
    {Value:"Expire soon"},
    DateDiff(
        DateValue1_1.SelectedDate, //Replace DateValue1_1 with your expirate date
        Now(),
        Days
    ) > 3 || DateDiff(
        DateValue1_1.SelectedDate ,//Here add an Or condition
        Now(),
        Days
    ) < 0,
    {Value:"Avivable"},
    DateDiff(
        DateValue1_1.SelectedDate,
        Now(),
        Days
    ) <= 0,
    {value:"Expired"}
)
Best Regards,
Qi
