Hide gallery item based on selected value

Hi Community,

can you help me on which code i can use in powerapps,

in fact i have two screens and each screen has a gallery, each person has a certain tasks associated, so for example: if David has maximum 3 tasks and if you checked them via checkbox in screen 2 and click on save button, then on screen 1 David will be hidden in the gallery in screen 1 but if you checked only like 2 tasks (not the maximum i.e. as long it still one left task for him) then in screen 1 David will still appearing i.e. David will not be hidden.

i.e. David in gallery in screen 1 will be hidden only when all his tasks have been checked.

Thank you guys.

Hi @BCBuizer ;

Thanks a lot, can you let me know those columns cause i saw you mentioned more than one new column

_OpenTasks column : which i have to create in datasource1 (this is a new column i have to create in datasource1? apart from the tasks column i have already in datasource2)

 NameColumn : which column is that?

Hi @Lacoste ,

The _OpenTasks column is temporarily created as part of the query, so you don't have to make any changes to your data sources.

There are two NameColumns mentions in the formula: One in the data source for screen 1 and one for the data source for screen2. Basically I used this fictional name to indicate refer to the relation between the two data sources:

All of the items in the column that has the names (like David) in data source 1 are matched against the column that has the names for unchecked items in data source 2.

If it's easier for you, please use the below formula with the following replacements:

AAAAA -> The name of the column in the data souce for screen 1 that has the names, for example: "David"

ZZZZZZ -> The name of the column in the data souce for screen 1 that has the names, for example: "David"

Filter(
    //Adds a column to 'datasource for screen 1' that holds a boolean that indicates if there are unchecked tasks in the 'datasource2 for screen 2'. true for open tasks
	AddColumns(
        'datasource for screen 1';
        "_OpenTasks";
        !IsBlank(
			LookUp(
				'datasource2 for screen 2';
				ZZZZZZ = 'datasource for screen 1'[@AAAAA] And IsBlank('column for Tasks')
			)
		)
	);
    StartsWith(column1;TextInput1.Text);
    column2=TextInput2.Text;
	//Filtering for the _OpenTasks column. Since this is a boolean, no additional code is required for this condition
    _OpenTasks
)

Hi @BCBuizer ,

Thanks a lot for the help! code works well,

I have only the issue of delegation for this column of Tasks and the final list might have more than 2000 rows (tasks)

Filter(
    //Adds a column to 'datasource for screen 1' that holds a boolean that indicates if there are unchecked tasks in the 'datasource2 for screen 2'. true for open tasks
	AddColumns(
        'datasource for screen 1';
        "_OpenTasks";
        !IsBlank(
			LookUp(
				'datasource2 for screen 2';
				ZZZZZZ = 'datasource for screen 1'[@AAAAA] And IsBlank('column for Tasks') // i have only the issue of delegation for this column of Tasks
			)
		)
	);
    StartsWith(column1;TextInput1.Text);
    column2=TextInput2.Text;
	//Filtering for the _OpenTasks column. Since this is a boolean, no additional code is required for this condition
    _OpenTasks
)

Hi Community,

in the below code, I have the issue of delegation for this "column of Tasks" and the final list might have more than 2000 rows (tasks),

can anyone help me on how i can define it in the way to overcome that issue of delegation?

Thanks.

Hi @BCBuizer ,

I tried to manage the delegation issue and changed a bit that line of code from

IsBlank('column for Tasks') to 'column1'= Blank() And 'column2'= Blank() And 'column3'= Blank()

But this makes the code to work in other way, how or where can i correct to allow the code to work the same way as before?

Delegation: was because of column of tasks was a multi combination of three columns in sharepoint list, then i change IsBlank to Blank and combine all those columns.

Thanks.

				ZZZZZZ = 'datasource for screen 1'[@AAAAA] And 'column1'= Blank() And 'column2'= Blank() And 'column3'= Blank() // I changed that line of the code to avoid delegation issue, by replacing IsBlank() by Blank()
			)
		)

Hi @Lacoste,

Currently this column is either blank or has a "Yes" value. If you replace it with "No" and "Yes", you can just filter for "No" instead of having to use IsBlank, which is indeed not delegable.

Hi @BCBuizer ,

Thanks for your prompt response, as i m still new in powerapps can you give me more details on what you mean?

or how to modify the code.

Thanks a lot.

Hi @Lacoste ,

You'll have to review your code and everywhere where it sets the value of the column to blank, you change it to "No".

I can imagine this starts with creating new items where the default value should be "No" instead of blank. Another scenario is when David unchecks the task in screen 2, after which the value should revert to "No".

Hi @BCBuizer ,

Thanks, i changed as you mentioned and the code is working well now.
