How can populated Nominee Manager & Submitter Manager when Nominee Name is selected.

I need to make sure that when a user selects Nominee Name, the Nominee Manager & Submitter Manager as well.  The Submitter will be selecting the nominee's name when using the form by clicking on the Nomine Name, which should populate the Nomine Manager column. Also, make sure that the Submitter Manager name populates when the submitter selects the Nominee Name column.

Can someone please guide me with the request?

Yes, that is correct.

I tried this formula, but nothing came up:

So you'll want to try these things out. If one doesn't work try the next one.

• You can remove the .Value and just leave DataCardValue45.Selected since that is a people picker dropdown.

• Add .DisplayName to 'Employee Name'. 

{Value: LookUp('Controller Org', 'Employee Name'.DisplayName = DataCardValue45.Selected.DisplayName).Manager_Name} ​

• Since it is a people picker field as well, we want to compare the two similar columns. This should work but it will compare names. So if you have two people with the same name, like John Smith and John Smith, it could pull the wrong person

• Instead, you could change DisplayName to use .Mail instead since that should always be unique

So, try the formula changes that you recommended, but it seems that I'm still getting an error. I have attached the Word with screenshots of the errors. It seems like just one or two things is missing, but I can't put my finger on it.

What is the data type of 'Employee Name'?

Edit: I thought it was people picker but based on the fact that the other field is working its probably just text then? So you should be able to just say

{Value: LookUp('Controller Org', 'Employee Name' = DataCardValue45.Selected.DisplayName).Manager_Name} ​

 if 'Employee Name' is text

So, Employee Name has First & Last Name = "Kumar Patel" on SharePoint

I should have started with asking for the data types of the columns you were using. Sorry about that!

oh, no worries. So, on my SharePoint List, here are all the columns:

Could it be because the Two columns that were added two days ago, called Submitter Manager & Nominee Manager, are empty columns compared to the other columns above? A total of 10 columns and only 8 columns have data, and two do not have any data.

No blank columns won't be an issue. I was assuming too much info.

The way you set default values for fields changes depending on the type of field.

For example:

• Choice fields you have to provide a record
  • This is why we were using .Selected
  • Another way you can provide the default is saying {Value: "Text"} since that translates into a record
• Text fields is just text
• Date is a date/time value,
• and so on

People Pickers (or Person) fields are unique because you have to provide the record in a specific format, which is why we actually need to change how you are setting the defaults for your fields because if we don't, it might not work when you go to save your data.

So you'll want to change the DefaultSelectedItems for both Nominee Manager and Submitter Manager

This sets up the field so that it will be able to pass the data to the People Picker (Person) type field.

Sorry we basically undid everything else 😅 but at least we caught it before you had to find out via the submit.
