How to Add alphabet after every Uniqui value like ABC1234a

I have a Form which has  Facility , Category and date Column.

And I also have a column which has a combination of all 3 of these like if i select Facility = ABC and Category = XYZ and date 2/13/2033

then i my Designation column it should be ABCXYZ2132023a this small a would add if the value is uniqui. if value is repeated it should be  ABCXYZ2132023b if again repeat it should be c , d ,e and so on.

Designation is the Facility 3 digit code +  Category (SAF, ENV, FIR, OME, LL) + Date of event (2digit YR/Mo/Day)  + designation for # events (a, b, c,...)  Ex.  FFXSAF210101a

I had created  ABCXYZ2132023 this but i am not able to add these a , b ,c 

I had added this code in my Designation column - Default =Concatenate(First(Filter(UpdateInitials, 'Business Unit' = Dropdown2.Selected.Value)).'3digit code',Upper(Left(Dropdown3.Selected.Value,3)),Substitute(DatePicker1,"/",""))

Updateinitials is the sharePoint list have 3 digit code.

What you could do is add the following code to your default:

Important please change the code where necessary (e.g. 'YourDesignationList').

At the end I have added a Char(CountRows + 97) formula. 97 is equal to the letter a. Please do keep in mind, that countrows + 97 cannot be bigger than 122. (122 = 'z').

Thank You its is working with your code but the only concern right now i have is that i had enter two times the same value but i got the designation as 

Its is 'a' only but it should be 'b' if the user or details is similar to a similar user..

if the User is Similar and the Details are Similar then 'a' should 'c' if person came again it would be 'c'. 

If User(From whose ID apps is initiated) + Facility + Category is same

Hi @B8,

Currently the designation column is checked with the code below:

It checks the designationList (change to correct name) and counts all rows that start with (in the case above) 'FFXFIR2142023'. If one already exists, it will create 'FFXFIR2142023b' and so on...

Now I did make a small delegation mistake with the StartsWith function. The Designation column should be the first parameter and the initialConcat the second one:

StartsWith(Designation, initialConcat)

I did some testing on my end and I was unable to create duplicate values with my initial code (with the StartsWith change I suggested above):

I had change the code as you updated but i can still see the same value of Designation

Hi @B8,

The CountRows(Filter()) should have the list in your first screenshot as the datasource and the Designation Codes (not site code) as the first parameter of the StartsWith. As I understand it, the datasource of your InitialConcat (your first code mentioned a list 'UpdateInitials') and the source of your Filter() should not be the same list. In the screenshots, it looks like the same datasource/list is used in both cases.

This part of the code should change:

Your datasource for the filter should be the list below and your StartsWith field should be the highlighted field and not Site Code:

Char(CountRows(Filter(YourDesignationList, StartsWith(DesignationField, initialConcat))) + 97)

When creating a new item in the list, you want to check the list (where you store the designations) if similar designations already exists.
