I have this scenario:
I have a field named Status which can hold these 2 values: Active or Cancelled
So whenever the value of my Status is = Cancelled then my whole form named FormEditBooking2 should be in View mode
so that none of my users can do any updates, when the Status is = Active then of course users should be able to make modifications.
On the DefaultMode property of my form I have tried to put the following but I get the error: Expected Enum value
If(DataCardValueStatus.Text="Cancelled",FormEditBooking2.DisplayMode.View,FormEditBooking2.DisplayMode.Edit)
Is there another way of setting a form in a View only mode?
Appreciate any help on this one.

Does Form.DefaultMode not get changed when you use NewForm(Form) or EditForm(Form)? I ask because some property is preventing my form from switching between New and Edit. I also cannot access the Image property of my Form control.
@DGS ,
Form.DefaultMode just sets the mode the form opens in if no other change is given. NewForm/ViewForm/EditForm should still work regardless of the Default.
So what is preventing me from setting the MyForm.Item property so that I can edit a form?
Here is my code from button.OnSelect()
If(
IsBlank(
LookUp(
NCR,
id = gloRecordFormCurrent.id
)
),
Notify("id: "&gloRecordFormCurrent.id&" not found"),
frmNCR.Item = Last(NCR);
EditForm(frmNCR)
);
Navigate(scrNewNCR,ScreenTransition.Cover)
The intention is to return to the form and edit the last new record. The app won't run because it errors on frmNCR.Item saying the name does not exist.
@WarrenBelz Look above and please let me know how to change the forms Item property
That is an entirely different question - what is
frmNCR.Item = Last(NCR);
trying to do ? This is an old closed post on a different subject (nothing to do with the Default Mode of your form) - please post a new thread with a bit more detail of your required process flow.
I found my solution. My question was how to get a drop down list to select an item based on the id of the underlying field. The code below was in the Items property of the drop down control, nested within a data card. THe commented out line was the original code for the NewForm().
//vwNCR_Companies_Dropdown_active
If(
frmNCR.Mode = FormMode.New,
vwNCR_Companies_Dropdown_active,
Filter(
vwNCR_Companies_Dropdown_active,
id = ThisItem.companies_id
)
)
This next code segment is for another drop down control that was dependent upon the selection of the drop down above, so that the form worked correctly in edit or new modes.
// Filter(vwNCR_LINK_Vendors_Dropdown_active, companies_id = ddCompanyList.Selected.id || IsBlank(companies_id))
If(
frmNCR.Mode = FormMode.New,
Filter(
vwNCR_LINK_Vendors_Dropdown_active,
companies_id = ddCompanyList.Selected.id || IsBlank(companies_id)
),
Filter(
vwNCR_LINK_Vendors_Dropdown_active,
id = ThisItem.ext_vendor_id
)
)
Thanks for your help nonetheless.
@WarrenBelz From perspective of getting a form into Edit mode from New, google brought me to this article. Google doesn't care how old the article is or if it is closed. I have old questions left unanswered on this forum so continuing to post more questions for problems that exist with time constraints on this forum seem a poor use of time for me, ymmv. I only posted on this page because I didn't expect any feedback and I appreciate your time spent.
As for
frmNCR.Item = Last(NCR);
That was posted as an example of trying to get a form to sync up with the last record added to a datasource. The question showed two attempts at getting the edit form to display a record, and was a low quality example. I made the longer post with code showing what finally worked for the benefit of others seeking answers in the future.
@DGS ,
My suggestion of a new thread was actually to assist you in getting a response - unsolved / new threads are what most responders spend their time on.
Hi Warren,
So I have a card that has 2 values as selection: In Process, Complete. And I tried
