How to freeze a Start date once user selects in a date in calender powerapps

Hello Team,

Can anyone help me with this requirement?

1.When a user selects a start date from the calendar and submits-The start date needs to get freeze or unchangeable /uneditable when the user clicks on the edit icon --in the form, the start date should be freezed or uneditable.

2. When we use Datepicker --we have the option to select the date and click ok, and the date gets selected ..Do we have any alternative where we can just select the date. Because due to n number of clicks in the date picker..the management wants an easy method or way for the date selection.Any help very much appreciated.Thanks in Advance.

2. DefaultDate of the Date Picker

If(Form.Mode = FormMode.New, Blank(), Parent.Default)

3. DisplayMode of DatePicker:

If(!IsBlank(Self.SelectedDate), DisplayMode.Disabled, DisplayMode.Edit)

Hi @Salesforce ,

In short, you can set the selected date in a global variable OnChange of the Date Picker:

Set(varSDate, DatePicker.SelectedDate)

then this variable could be used for DefaultDate property of other Date Picker Controls. If you want the date picker to be uneditable, you can change DisplayMode property of it to be:

If(DatePicker.SelectedDate = varSDate, DisplayMode.Disabled, DisplayMode.Edit)

Hello @v-jefferni  ,

Thanks for your response.I used the global variable on start date and default value also on start date.when user wants to create a new task,the start date is disabled.

we have two date pickers used as the Start date and due date. The start date should get frozen once the user selects it. So where should I use give the global variable and use the formulae?

Salesforce_0-1673542606484.pngSalesforce_1-1673542658480.pngSalesforce_2-1673542725989.png

The first image ..is used when the user wants to create a new task.

The second image is in an edit form when the user clicks on the edit icon from image 3.

Image 3 is in the card format where we used the labels and called out the values. so now when the user clicks on the edit icon here the start date should be uneditable. so how can I use the formulae mentioned?

2.Do we have an alternative option instead of using a datepicker --when we select a date and click on OK --the date gets selected,,but our management wants just to select the date and date gets selected..the no of clicks should be less,

Any help is very much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Hi @Salesforce ,

So, your purpose is to disable the date picker when 1. editing for an existing item 2. selecteing a date. Please try below steps:

1. Default if the Data Card:

ThisItem.'Start Date'

2. DefaultDate of the Date Picker

Parent.Default

3. DisplayMode of DatePicker:

If(!IsBlank(Self.SelectedDate), DisplayMode.Disabled, DisplayMode.Edit)

For the second question, there is another series Controls called modern fluent UI controls, which could be found in Teams PowerApps studio. The fluent Date Picker need no clicking to confirm date selections. You can open to Tabs on browser, on each tab open PowerApps studio and Teams PowerApps studio, add the fluent Date Picker control in Teams studio and copy/paste to PowerApps studio.

Use the Fluent UI controls in Power Apps app in Microsoft Teams - Power Apps | Microsoft Learn

Hello @v-jefferni ,

Apologize for the late response. Thanks for the response. I tried implementing the above formulae. For the existing record, the start date is getting frozen, but when a user creates a new record the start date is frozen reflecting the previous date used on another record. Any help is very much appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Hi @Salesforce ,

Please try in DefaultDate of the Date Picker:

If(Form.Mode = FormMode.New, Blank(), Parent.Default)
