How to sort collection using for all function ?

Hi All,

I have tried to create a collection and send the same collection to create a CSV file using power automate. However, I tried to create a successful connection, but now the issue I've been facing is the order of the columns are not in ascending order as I have coded/declared in power apps, I'm getting a different output whereas I want it to be in ascending order or the same as I have declared in powerapps.

Please find the screenshot of the image below and also the code below.

ForAll(
    Gallery4.AllItems,
    Collect(
        ExportColGal4,
        {

            Column1: Text(Gal4ACustId.Text),
            Column2: "I",
            Column3: 501,
            Column4: 10,
            Column5: 2020,
            Column6: "",
            Column7: Gal4Description.Text,
            Column8: Gal4Created.Text,//should be in format of dd-mm-yyyy
            Column9: Gal4GLcode.Text,//this should be the GL code
            Column10: "",
            Column11: "",//this should be the creditor number
            Column12: ""

    })
)

Try sending the result into a second collection and see how the order looks like in a data table before you actually send it to the flow.

Hi @Tapesh ,

After forall include a formula for Sort( ExportColGal4, columnname). In sort include your collection.

By default sort which sorts in ascending order.

Prakash

HI @Prakash4691 , @joeinmay  Thanks for the help, I tried your way but seems like not working, can you please let me know if there any other way or the correct way if you have with sample source code or else a way to sort the collection with and example ? Please

Thanks 🙂

Other ways i can think of using the JSON function in PowerApps.

First create a collection with all the data and a variable to capture the data in JSON format.

eg:

ClearCollect(Main,{ProductNo: 100,ProductName: "Keyboard",Rate: 500}, {ProductNo: 579,ProductName: "Mouse",Rate: 600}, {ProductNo: 112,ProductName: "DVD",Rate: 1500}, {ProductNo: 856,ProductName: "Modem",Rate: 500}, {ProductNo: 469,ProductName: "Processor",Rate: 5000});
Set( MainJSON, JSON( Main ) )

You will see the MainJSON like below:

[{"ProductName":"Keyboard","ProductNo":100,"Rate":500},{"ProductName":"Mouse","ProductNo":579,"Rate":600},{"ProductName":"DVD","ProductNo":112,"Rate":1500},{"ProductName":"Modem","ProductNo":856,"Rate":500},{"ProductName":"Processor","ProductNo":469,"Rate":5000}]

Next: pass the variable "MainJSON" to Flow
once you have this in flow it is easy to create a csv and use your method.

@joeinmay  Thanks for the response,

please see below screenshot which I already have tried as per your suggestion, but the concern is I want the items to be sorted in chronological order of column 1, column 2 and so on.

Thanks again @joeinmay

Is this solution fixed ?? I have similar kind of problem.
Instead of column1,column2, column3 ..... names I have my own priority columns stated but by default ForAll & collect is taking in ascending order and making my columns list different.

ForAll(GalleryAllPrj_3.AllItems, Collect(colExportSenData,{'S.No.':ThisRecord.'S.No.',Customer:ThisRecord.Customer,Project:ThisRecord.Project,Product:ThisRecord.Product,Platform:ThisRecord.Platform,Due_Date:ThisRecord.Due_Date}))

This is resulting in a list when I am expecting S.No. at first followed by customer but it results like below. can someone please help ???

@RMeena_9 ,

Two things, you can condense you code to this

ClearCOllect(
   colExportSenData,
   GalleryAllPrj_3.AllItems
)

but your main question is around the display in View > Collections - this is always shown in alphabetical order (for ease of finding fields). It does not matter what is shown there as you can display them any way you want unless you are using JSON to export them.

Hello @WarrenBelz,

Yes, I am using JSON as command to export them via power automate flow. I am looking for a logic which can keep my column as it is without any alphabetical order.

TestExportToExcel.Run(JSON(colExportSenData,JSONFormat.IncludeBinaryData & JSONFormat.IgnoreUnsupportedTypes));Clear(colExportSenData)

@RMeena_9 ,

There is no solution in Power Apps if you are using JSON - maybe some reorganising of the array in the Flow (I have never done this), however if you are exporting for a CSV, you can do it "the long way" and use Concat() with commas and then the actual file can be used (no conversion required in the Flow).
