Hi, is it possible from the Detail view, if I on click the DELETE icon to set 'true' to the 'toBeDeleted' column of that item?
I can just delete the item and then alert the staff that first added the item there because the item is already gone when '
The reason behind it is, I'll have a power automate checking for this field change and email the staff that this item is getting deleted and then delete it.
I'd like to accomplish:
1 - on select the delete icon, set a true value (DataCardValue27 or ThisItem.toBeDeleted)
2 - come back to the browseGallery, maybe append 'Back()' after setting the value to onSelect?
3 - sort for items that are not marked to be deleted
Thank you.
Solved! Go to Solution.
Nope...you go it. BrowseGallery1.Selected is what it is.
So then, for your Delete Icon, you would then put the following formula on the OnSelect action:
Patch(yourDataSource,
{ID: BrowseGallery1.Selected.ID,
toBeDeleted: true
}
);
Back()
You will want to set the Filter of your BrowseGallery1 to:
Filter(yourDataSource,
!toBeDeleted
)
Keep in mind a couple of things...
1) The above Items property is not delegable. You cannot delegate a NOT (to get only records where toBeDeleted is false). This is the disadvantage of any column where you want the not (inverse) condition.
It would be more advantageous to have a column indicate that it is not deleted. In other words, you can have a text column. In that column you can set it to "To Be Deleted". Then in your Filter you can replace !toBeDeleted with yourNewColumnName = Blank() This is delegable.
If you don't expect your list to grow larger than 2000 records, then you can ignore the delegation part.
2) You are updating your datasource. This means that the Gallery Items property will re-evaluate. This ultimately means that you can lose your .Selected record. This would cause your forms to show the wrong record.
However, since after the Patch, the formula returns back to the browse screen, this point will not be all that relevant. But, wanted to mention it.
What is the Item property of your Form?
I don't quite know where to look for it, how can I check it for you?
And thank you again for the fast reply @RandyHayes
Edit:
DetailForm1 > Item = BrowseGallery1.Selected

Thank you for the information @RandyHayes
Can I add IF inside the patch?
if the onselect from a combox can I patch another true/false field (Risk Level) based on the combox selection?
The OnSelect of the Combobox?? I wouldn't think you would want to do anything if it is just selected.
Yes, you can use IF and ANYTHING else you want in your formula. As long as it provides what Patch wants for parameters.
What is it you are "IF'ing"?
That would be something close to this, but I'm getting a weird behaviour
If(DataCardValue21.Selected.Value = "3 - High",
Patch('Extended-Therapy-Waitlist', {ID: BrowseGallery1.Selected.ID, 'Risk Level': true}), Patch('Extended-Therapy-Waitlist', {ID: BrowseGallery1.Selected.ID, 'Risk Level': false})
)
It kind of works, but when I change the selection of the combox for example from any value to '3 - High'
It checks the Risk Level box but the combobox value goes back to the previous value and unchecks the risk level box.
It doesn't happen if I change it from 1 to 2 or 4, only to 3 - High.
Maybe it's the update field from another component messing up with me.
funny
Formula should be:
Patch('Extended-Therapy-Waitlist',
{ID: BrowseGallery1.Selected.ID,
'Risk Level': DataCardValue21.Selected.Value = "3 - High"
}
)
However, in looking at what you have now...you are using a Form! So, why would you want to Patch inside the form? Everything should be done with the form and the SubmitForm.
Thank you for the input, @RandyHayes.
We have 3 Apps using the same SP list.
Each app can edit values to some columns but not all, and some columns depend on another column field that the App won't display it as EDIT, only VIEW. Therefore, I'd like to show the change in real-time for the user.
PowerAutomate is taking care of this at the moment, hasColumnChanged property and send HTTP request to change the desired field, but it takes a minute for the changes to get propagated right (change, trigger, run and apply).
I'd like to not use power automate if I can do it on the fly and submit the changes.
EDIT: after editing the formula for the onSelect combobox, the behavior is still the same as shown in the gif above with my formula.
