Images binded to URL's

Dear community,

I am about to make my first app, which is aimed for internal usage in our factory. The app needs a gallery with images, stored on our server. An URL looks as follows:

\\jb-dc01\JBEnterprise\Ramasoft.Net Documents\Project\dc543b2df07e4b31a269fb75c8e42dff\8f9c99b92a9f47ef97388632c0895266\413f82e209ce410a969700f76ab33857\AssemblyImages\2c5699a280a44a2eb5d6dc2fb7f6b763-int.png

When launching exactly this URL in the explorer, my image simply pops up but the app simply won't show anything. What am I doing wrong?

Usually, when you place your files directly in C:\, it may encounter windows previlege checking.

You should try another locations placed in your current user, such as: "C:\Users\your_user_name\Pictures\your_image.png"

Yeah, that does the trick. Does that mean that I can somehow manipulate my ntwork folder in order to simulate or something?

Yes, I think you have to grant access privilege to a group of people throughout your network in order to be able to access the files.

Images from UNC (network) paths do not work in most scenarios, due to permissions on the network shares.The best alternative, if you can do that, would be to host the images in a HTTP server, and access those images using the HTTP protocol.

For example, if you have IIS (Internet Information Services) running on the jb-dc01 computer, you can create a new Application on the default web site (e.g., called "assemblyimages"), point it to the directory containing the images (e.g., "C:\the actualPath\BEnterprise\Ramasoft.Net Documents\Project\dc543b2df07e4b31a269fb75c8e42dff\8f9c99b92a9f47ef97388632c0895266\413f82e209ce410a969700f76ab33857\AssemblyImages") and access your image as "http://jb-dc01/assemblyimages/2c5699a280a44a2eb5d6dc2fb7f6b763-int.png".

Hmm, that is not going to be easy... I will first see what I can do with privileges.

Well, I found out something...

I experimented with folders and permissions. Turns out that all images in my "Saved images" folder will always load. I made a folder in the same directory, named "QuickstartPictures", having the same permissions. Images from this folder will only load the very first time when I connect my datasource. Once connecting the very same datasource twice, the image will not load anymore. See attachment:

Reconnecting the same datasource (static Excel document) within 20 seconds, 2nd picture doesn't load anymore.

Can this be logically explained? If not, I think I will give up my trust to this platform for the time being. We cannot rely on a platform that is so buggy.

I think I will go on developing this app.

I think this is what I need to do, too, as I am running into the same problem! How did you convert the C:\ address to the HTTP link? The string of numbers in the HTTP address doesn't look like it's from the C:\ address.
