Issues when Patching a SPList with a form

Hello Guys,

 

I'm sorry to bother you. I'm facing an issue with the "Patch" function. i've followed an April DUNNAM tutorial but it's not working forme. i've triple checked the commands used on that patch. I'm stucked since last week, could you please help me ?

I use the "onSelect" property of a button to submit the form.

I forgot to precise that i'm in Europe so the commas turn to semicolons in the code here or else it doesnt work (it throws a syntax error).

I may be wrong, but I don't think you need to specify the "odata.type". Ignore this statement if I'm indeed wrong.

 

Otherwise, I see you're trying to fill in an user's claims with a mail. Again if I'm not wrong, this is not enough and a "claims" should be constructed like this :

 

"i:0#.f|membership|" & mail

 

Can you try again with the "claims" property fixed with my suggestion please?

 

If it is still not properly working, could you share more on your issue and objective here?

Thank you @WiZey  I've tried but it's not working. i've commented the "odata" lines and used the syntax you gave me for the "Claims" field. In the April DUNNAM tutorial i saw (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wDKuLeK9N9Q) (at 7min43sec) that she did exactly what i did and it worked. She only used the "mail" property of her "person & group field" that she wanted to patch so that the "claim" function pointed on the email of the person directly. I thought maybe by replacing the email part on the formula you sent me and adding just "DataCardValue3.Selected.Mail;" which is the "mail" property at the end right after the '&' to replace the "mail" it'd work but it's still not working.

1- it says "amount" doesn't correspond to the expected type, number type expected, error type received.

2- invalid argument. recorded value expected but with a different schema.

3-incompatible type the data source column you're trying to update expect a "text" type value but instead receives a error type value.

4-patch contains invalid arguments.

sorry for the length of the message, i'm trying to give as much details as i can. My objective with this patch function is to add data in a SPList containing single text fields, date fields, multichoice field and a person field that's able to contain multiple persons in one record(row).

Hello @Styve ,

 

  1. "Amount" is expecting a number, so I'm going to guess « DataCardValue60.Number » is a text and not a number. Try using "Value()" for conversion.
  2. This is a tricky one. User-type columns are picky and need a precise schema in order to accept the record as a user. I see that you're populating the record's properties with "DataCardValue3", can you try directly filling in "User Associated" with the selected property like this:

Point 3 & 4 should be gone once point 1 & 2 are fixed.

Why not just SubmitForm(yourform)

The error related to the amount is gone but the other 3 remained. I used the selected property just like you showed me earlier but i still get the 3 same errors. is there any other way please ?

Because for what i know (very little), to submit a form with complex field (multichoice, person & group etc...) you have to patch a record of the sharepoint list. Since if you use submit, it'll either throw an error or not take into account the complex field or even it will submit an empty form (what i had at the beginning).

Summer of Solutions | Week 4 Results | Winners will be posted on July 24th

We are excited to announce the Summer of Solutions Challenge!   This challenge is kicking off on Monday, June 17th and will run for (4) weeks.  The challenge is open to all Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate, Copilot Studio & Power Pages) community members. We invite you to participate in a quest to provide solutions in the Forums to as many questions as you can. Answers can be provided in all the communities.    Entry Period: This Challenge will consist of four weekly Entry Periods as follows (each an “Entry Period”)   - 12:00 a.m. PT on June 17, 2024 – 11:59 p.m. PT on June 23, 2024 - 12:00 a.m. PT on June 24, 2024 – 11:59 p.m. PT on June 30, 2024 - 12:00 a.m. PT on July 1, 2024 – 11:59 p.m. PT on July 7, 2024 - 12:00 a.m. PT on July 8, 2024 – 11:59 p.m. PT on July 14, 2024   Entries will be eligible for the Entry Period in which they are received and will not carryover to subsequent weekly entry periods.  You must enter into each weekly Entry Period separately.   How to Enter: We invite you to participate in a quest to provide "Accepted Solutions" to as many questions as you can.
