Legal Letter Builder Canvas App with dynamic static text including variables

Hi PowerApps Community

I am trying to build an app that produces legal letters.

The letters contains lots of variables and also dynamic static text (Terms & Conditions) which also contains variables.

These Terms & Conditions would be selected by the user based on the Customer Type or Product etc.

My approach is to use the HTMLText label as the output.
I will format this appropriately with the single variables (taken from a SharePoint form)  and then have a Gallery were the user selects the appropriate T&C's for the deal.

The T&C's from the gallery are put into a Collection and then I put the field from the collection into the HTMLText output.

I have the T&C's predefined in a SharePoint list, so they are selectable by the user.

This all works fine for static T&C's, but unsure how to get a variable into this predefined text and then into the Collection.

Example:

The form contains inputs for various data such as "Loan Term in Months". They would input say '60' into this field.

I capture this in the form and there is a T&C that states " You agree to the 'Loan Term in Months' month term.

This T&C may not always be needed so it needs to be selected from a predefined list that I have in a Gallery where the users can select from.

So from above the T&C would print as " You agree to the 60 month term"

Once selected it goes into a Collection called TCsList that I then output the Text field of my predefined T&C's in the HTMLText in an ordered list

<ol>

"&Concat(TCsList.Text, "<li>"&Text&"</li>

</ol>

How best to get the variables into the predefined T&C's text and where best to store this so it can be displayed in the Gallery or Other means for selection, and then output correctly so I can print in a Letter?

Thanks !

Hi @v-jefferni

Apologies I'm not getting this at all!  I'm not a programmer so just don't understand what is probably a basic thing here..

Where exactly do I paste all the html ?

The html is below, I tried putting in the Substitute function again in the Htmltext property of the Htmltext box but it just has error, I'm assuming this is not what I'm supposed to do?

"<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
<body>

<div>
<p> <h2> Loan Company </h2> </p>

<p> <h3>Private and Confidential </p>

<p> <h4> Reference Number: </p>

<p> Date Requested: " & LetterRequestDate.SelectedDate & "

<p> " & CustomerName & "<br>
" & Address1 & "<br>
" & Address2 & "<br>
" & Address3 & "<br>
" & Eircode & "</p>

<p><center> <b> Re: " & CustomerName & "</p>
</div>
<p> Thank you for your enquiry regarding a " & Facility & " for " & FacilityAmount & " over " & FacilityTerm & " months. </p>

<b><u> Terms and Conditions:</b></u>
<p> The conditions of this product are as follows

<ol> " & Concat(
ConditionList.Text,
"<li>" & Text
) & " </li>
</ol>
</div>

</body>
</html>"

Hi @v-jefferni

I'm still not understanding this, sorry i'm not a programmer so this is probably a basic thing!

The html text is below, doesn't seem right to paste all that as first parameter in the Substitute function?

Or do you mean the actual output from the collections etc?

If this is the case then again where exactly does this go?

Thanks!

"<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
<body>

<div>
<p> <h2> Loan Company </h2> </p>

<p> <h3>Private and Confidential </p>

<p> <h4> Reference Number: </p>

<p> Date Requested: " & LetterRequestDate.SelectedDate & "

<p> " & CustomerName & "<br>
" & Address1 & "<br>
" & Address2 & "<br>
" & Address3 & "<br>
" & Eircode & "</p>

<p><center> <b> Re: " & CustomerName & "</p>
</div>
<p> Thank you for your enquiry regarding a " & Facility & " for " & FacilityAmount & " over " & FacilityTerm & " months. </p>

<b><u> Terms and Conditions:</b></u>

Hi @markikav ,

What error did you receive when added the HTML texts in Substitute function? Below is a screenshot of test data & formula:

vjefferni_0-1665025321327.png

Substitute(
    "<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
<body>
<div>
<p> <h2> Loan Company </h2> </p>
<p> <h3>Private and Confidential </p>
<p> <h4> Reference Number: </p>
<p> Date Requested: " & "TEST" & "
<p> " & "TEST" & "<br>
" & "TEST" & "<br>
" & "TEST" & "<br>
" & "TEST" & "<br>
" & "TEST" & "</p>
<p><center> <b> Re: " & "TEST" & "</p>
</div>
<p> Thank you for your enquiry regarding a " & "TEST1" & " for " & "TEST1" & " over " & "TEST1" & " months. </p>
<b><u> Terms and Conditions:</b></u>
<p> The conditions of this product are as follows
<ol> " & "TEST" & " </li>
</ol>
</div>
</body>
</html>",
    "TEST1",
    "123"
)

You can see that all "TEST1" have been replaced by "123" successfully.

Hi @v-jefferni

Thanks for your patience and the example on this, my syntax was wrong and I see now how it works now.

I just need to come up with unique Placeholder text for each variable to be substituted.

This is very cool and should do the job..

Thanks again!

Hi @v-jefferni

Sorry last question, for all the other variables to be substituted do I have to keep pasting ALL the html text each time and nest the Substitutes ?!

Its ok , figured it out

 Substitute(Substitute(HTMLText...

then all the variables per Substitute clause..

Long winded but it works!
