Loop through Combobox.SelectedItems

Hi All,

A bit of background before the problem; I'm developing internal award nomination forms in PowerApps (using PA rather than Forms so I can ensure data is entered correctly).  The 2 forms save to a SharePoint list, with about 12 fields, only 3-5 are relevant to the person filling in the form, depending on which form they choose, the rest are for Admins.

If nominating a single staff member, the user fills in Nominee (single person), Category (drop down) and Reason (text)

  • PowerAutomate looks up the Nominees manager
  • This form saves directly into SharePoint

If nominating a team, the user fills in Team Name (text), Team Leader (single person), Category (drop down) and Reason (text)

  • Nominee is set to the Team Leader, and as before PowerAutomate looks up the Nominees manager

On the Team screen, they also select the other team members, this is where I'm stuck.  To select team members, I've set up a multi-select ComboBox that looks up users from AD.

When the form is submitted, the standard fields are saved correctly, I then need to loop through each of the team members, look up their managers, and save an entry to the list for each of them (copying all the other fields).  I've investigated ForAll, and can't wrap my head around how it works, or if it will work for this.

Any ideas?

Cheers

Hi@R0b,

Do you want to create a record for each of the Combo Box selected item?

Could you please tell me that which column you will save these Combo Box selected users?

What do you mean that "they also select the other team members"?

Do you mean that after select the team leader from the Team Leader (single person), they also select multiple members from the same team in the multi-select ComboBox and save to Team Leader (single person)?

Please do answer the above questions.

If you want to create multiple records for combo box selected items, please try the following.

Add a Gallery and set the Items as below:

Split(Concat(ComboBox2.SelectedItems.Mail,Mail,"," ),",")

Set the Text property of the Label within as below:

ThisItem.Result

Set the OnSelect property of the save button as below:

ForAll(
    Gallery2.AllItems,
    Patch(
        YourSPList,
        Defaults(YourSPList),
        {
            Title: "TestSave",
            'Team Leader': {
                '@odata.type': "#Microsoft.Azure.Connectors.SharePoint.SPListExpandedUser",
                Claims: "i:0#.f|membership|" & Title4.Text,
                Department: "",
                DisplayName: "",
                Email: Title4.Text,
                JobTitle: "",
                Picture: ""
            }
        }
    )
)

Notice that the Title4 is the Label within the Gallery4 where display combo box selected items.

Hope it could help.

Qi

Hi Qi,

Correct, each user selected from the combo box will have their own entry in the list. All fields from the form will be saved against each member - the only fields unique to each entry is the team member, and their manager.

I've tried doing something similar by adding each team member to a table, then attempting to use ForAll, I'll try adding each member to a gallery today.

Thanks

Hi Qi,

I think i've got it working with some minor changes

ForAll(
    Gallery2.AllItems,
    Patch(
        MySPList,
        Defaults(MySPList);
        {
            Title: frmFullForm_Title.Text,
            'Team Leader': {
                '@odata.type': "#Microsoft.Azure.Connectors.SharePoint.SPListExpandedUser",
                Claims: "i:0#.f|membership|" & [@Title4].Text,
                Department: "",
                DisplayName: "",
                Email: [@Title4].Text,
                JobTitle: "",
                Picture: ""
            }
        }
    )
);
SubmitForm(frmFullForm);

Thanks for the assist
