Massive bug in ComboBox causing chaos! The DisplayFields and SearchFields properties are RESET on load in Studio

So since yesterday, all our apps started misbehaving. PowerApps Studio version 3.22082.8.

All ComboBox controls (Single Double) and their DisplayFields and SearchFields values reset themselves to something completely random.

To fix this, we had to rename columns used in those fields to have AAA in front of them so that when you load the app, the studio would reset all those DisplayFields and SearchFields to those columns with AAAxxx

Microsoft you must fix this urgently and stop breaking things FFS. I also reported this via their amazing support portal...

The app is connected to GitHub and we can clearly see what is happening:

It happened on save straight after opening the app in studio mode? Wow.  If I do that will powerapps auto update the connection?  Because those columns I'm working with are all over the app in like 6 different locations.  Used in galleries and such.  But not comboboxes.

We use collections in those drop-downs and we use them in many more places than 6 😖🤬

I have opened a case with M$. They acknowledged the issue and want to arrange a remote session, so I'm waiting for this to happen and we'll take it from there.

FYI, I opened a support case in M365, then found that one can be opened in PowerApps with 1 day turn-around:

Has anyone got an acknowledgement from Microsoft, or better yet - an ETA on a fix?

The combobox is squirrelly in many ways...would be nice to get this one out of the way.

I thought this was just me. I was wracking my brain trying to understand why in the world this just started to happen. I thought some component I made was reloading the collection I am using therefore defaulting these properties to the first column in alphabetical order.

I have over 50 controls that are reset because of this. My current, frustrating workaround is using the 'search' feature to find & replace the wrong value with the correct one. But this needs to be done every time and if you accidentally publish without fixing this, it messes up everything.

I'm also finding that the controls simply don't work. I manually change DisplayFields and SearchFields, save, publish, and go test it out. DisplayFields and SearchFields are ignored. I go back in and check the settings, they are still there, so it must have published with those values, right?

ComboBox seems like a mess.

I think there is a deeper issue here as well. I've also observed that randomly, when loading other parts of my app, other combo boxes with a completely different collection will have their default field value reset. the only reason why i noticed is because there was a value mismatch so it threw an error.

Can't imagine how many people unknowingly published apps and had this happen. @LenC thankfully you caught it and tested it in live.

I'm spending more time changing display/search fields than I am actually developing. Usually I can tolerate weirdness and don't say anything but this coupled with the immense lag I experience while in edit mode and changing almost any formula (https://powerusers.microsoft.com/t5/Building-Power-Apps/Slow-performance-in-Power-Apps-Studio-when-b...), quite literally I spent over 2 hours today just waiting for PowerApps.
