Multi select checkboxes within a Gallery

Hi All,

I have a warning with my Checkbox field.

The checkboxes sit within a gallery (NOT in a form). Source data is a sharepoint list

Background:

Screen1: is a dashboard view that is a gallery that when on select takes you to screen 2

Screen2: has a gallery and within that gallery sits the checkbox

Cel87_0-1704326889875.png

Issue: When I go from screen1 to screen2 I should be able to view previously selected items from the checkbox.

My OnCheck and OnUncheck work. My problem is on the Default property. If I set it to false, it doesn't show the items that were previously selected. If i set it to true, it selects all items in the checkbox. If I set to ThisItem.Value it pickups my previous selection, but applies it to different records.

Hope I've explained this clearly.
Can anyone see where I've gone wrong?

Hi , @Cel87

You can try to use this code checkbox -Default:

Self.Text in Concat( Gallery2.Selected.MulChoices ,Value,",")

vyueyunmsft_0-1704345538522.png

The Galery2.Selected.MulChoices is a single column table like this:

vyueyunmsft_1-1704345569803.png

If this still can not solve your issue, you can show your screen1 Gallery items and what's the default selection you need your checkbox default selected.

If this reply can help you , you can click mark this reply as solution, thanks in advance!

Hi , @Cel87

The checkbox's Default property need to put true or false expression.

For example , This is my Gallery -items:

["Apple","Egg","Fish"]

Checkbox-Text:

ThisItem.Value

vyueyunmsft_0-1704330737353.png

Checkbox -OnCheck :

Collect(coldata,ThisItem)

Checkbox-OnUnCheck:

Remove(coldata,ThisItem)

Checkbox-Default:

Self.Text in coldata.Value

So if you want to set the default selection for checkbox , you can use this code like in Button-Onselect:

ClearCollect(coldata,{Value:"Apple"},{Value:"Fish"}   );

Hi @Cel87

If I understand you right, you have the same gallery, with the same items property on both screens and when you navigate to the second screen you want to see those selections from the first screen persisting on the second screen?

To do this, you can add logic in the default to check if the collection contains each respective value in the gallery of checkboxes (as added by your OnCheck). Assuming your collection is just  a single column table with 'Value' as the column name, you can add the following to the Checkbox default:

ThisItem.Value in Col

Hope this helps

@v-yueyun-msft the checkboxes are actually not hardcoded in but look at a choice column in my SP List.

@AmDev,, thank you for your suggestion.

ThisItem.Value in Col unfortunately still doesn't provide any values selected.

Screen1 is a dashboard sort of view, which looks at a gallery. From within the selection of the gallery it brings up specific job details. Sort of like a ticketing system if you will.

The gallery in Screen2 (where my checkbox sits within) points to my column within the SP List then the checkbox uses the Text property= ThisItem.Value to populate the checkbox names. As seen above in the screenshot.

I'm not sure where I'm going wrong with this one. 😩

Hi , @Cel87

Thanks for your quick response ! What's the code you put in your checkbox's Gallery items?  Dose this Gallery is in a Form?

Yueyun Zhang

Hi , @Cel87

If the checkbox is in a Form like this:

vyueyunmsft_0-1704336053360.png

You can try to use these code .

My Gallery3_1 -items:    Choices(ChoicesTest.MulChoices)

Checkbox - Text : ThisItem.Value

Checkbox-Default :   Self.Text in Concat( Gallery2.Selected.MulChoices ,Value,",")

The MulChoices is my choices column in SharePoint list:

@v-yueyun-msft This Gallery does NOT sit in a form. It is a gallery on its own.

In the Gallery Items = Choices(['Form'].Valid)

the Checkbox fields are as per the screenshot above.
