Named Formulas in App.Formulas

Hello 

I have an issue with the named formulas in the App.Formulas.

The following formular I have created. Simple and clear:

myFilterSwitch = Switch(

    FilterNo,

    "FamilyName",

    If(

        "FamilyName" in ComboBox2.SelectedItems.Value,

        Filter(

            brainFunction,

            FamilyName in TextInput1.Text

        )

    ),

    "EducationalLevel",

    If(

        "EducationalLevel" in ComboBox2.SelectedItems.Value,

        Filter(

            brainFunction,

            EducationLevel in TextInput1.Text

        )

    ),

    "No",

    If(

        "No" in ComboBox2.SelectedItems.Value,

        Filter(

            brainFunction,

            No in TextInput1.Text

        )

    )

);

Which is a simple switch. In the library property I like to use that formula by: myFilterSwitch(DropDown1.Selected.Value)

The dropdown1 is for choosing what filter will be used.

If I use the following If Formular directly in the Galler Items field it works, well as everybody knows 😉

If(

    "FamilyName" = ComboBox2.Selected.Value,

    Filter(

        brainFunction,

        FamilyName in TextInput1.Text

    ),

    If(

        "No" = ComboBox2.Selected.Value,

        Filter(

            brainFunction,

            No in TextInput1.Text

        ),

            "EducationalLevel" = ComboBox2.Selected.Value,

            Filter(

                brainFunction,

                EducationLevel in TextInput1.Text

            )

        )

    )

)

But I like to use the Named Formulas for simplefy the recuring formular usage.

If anybody has an idea, please let me know and thanks in advance.

can u please try this:

// OnChange of TextInput1
Set(CurrentFilterValue, TextInput1.Text);

gallery item property

Switch(
    CurrentFilterType,
    "FamilyName", Filter(brainFunction, FamilyName in CurrentFilterValue),
    "EducationalLevel", Filter(brainFunction, EducationLevel in CurrentFilterValue),
    "No", Filter(brainFunction, No in CurrentFilterValue),
    brainFunction // Default case if none of the above
)

Thanks a lot for your reply.

I have not tested it yet, but I was talking about NAMED FORMULAS under App.Formulas.

So you can create a formula and can use it everywhere in the app.

The only solution for me was to use the following code:

myFormulaTest =

If(

    "FamilyName" = ComboBox2.Selected.Value,

    Filter(

        brainFunction,

        FamilyName in TextInput1.Text

    ),

    If(

        "No" = ComboBox2.Selected.Value,

        Filter(

            brainFunction,

            No in TextInput1.Text

        ),

            "EducationalLevel" = ComboBox2.Selected.Value,

            Filter(

                brainFunction,

                EducationLevel in TextInput1.Text

            )

        )

    )

);

And use in the Gallery Items property the following:  myFormulaTest

But I was trying to use the switch in App.Formulas as Named Formular.

Sorry for the misunderstandig it is all about Named Formular feature (App.Formulas) a App Property like onStart

oh do do you mean variables? like one that is called varReset and you just want to write varReset instead od the whole code?

Well there are two different things ouside:

(+) User Defined Functions

(+) Named Formulas

Both will be written in App.Formulas (App property: FORMULAS)

To say it in simple words:

If you are using Named Formulas you will write the same as you would do that in onSelect or other properties.

The User Defined Functions are real functions where you can create an input variable or multi and use that one in a real function. You need to define the variable datatype at first.

I hope I could explain it in a simple way but I prefare for practice to use the examples from the links 😉

Well I have tested it and DefindedFunctions are working, but they are simple and very limited.

Please try the Link for a starting point and be aware you need to enable analytics and user function in the settings.

It works in limited cases. The SWITCH is not working... ;(

So hopefully Microsoft will extend that feature in a way to enhance the functionallity.

The idea is super 😉
