Need help with Navigation component buttons

I have created this navigation in the component environment.

This is the MenuItems Property: (I may not use the Screen section of the table. I'll explain below.)

I've then placed the component on a screen and in the OnSelect property, I wrote so far:

Switch(PortalMenuComponent.SelectedRecord.MenuText ,"Create Request",Set(ViewForm,true);"Requests",Navigate(MyRequestsScreen))

I was hoping the set command would open a form I have hidden on the screen and the other button would navigate to another screen, but its not working. How can I fix my switch command to either open forms or navigate to another screen?

Here is my example,

• I created 2 screens ScreenSample1 and ScreenSample2
• I added FormSample1 to ScreenSample1 and made it invisible using variable Form1IsVisible
  • I added this to the App.OnStart
    • Set(Form1IsVisible, false);
• I created a MenuItems Component
  • I added 3 buttons 
  • I added an Event called OnSelect with a required Parameter called ActionDetail, which is string. This way I am passing what i want them to do, versus having to look at a property
  •  
  • 
  • In Button 1 OnSelect I put MenuItems.OnSelect("ScreenSample1")
  • In Button 2 OnSelect I put MenuItems.OnSelect("ScreenSample2"
  • In Button 3 OnSelect I put MenuItems.OnSelect("FormSample1"

I now added the Component to ScreenSample 1 and ScreenSample 2

Now in MenuItems_1.OnSelect AND MenuItems_2.OnSelect

    "ScreenSample1",
        Navigate(ScreenSample1),
    "ScreenSample2",
        Navigate(ScreenSample2),
    "FormSample1",
        Set(Form1IsVisible,!Form1IsVisible)
)

Before I run my App.OnStart to make the Form invisible, ScreenSample1 looks like this

1. I ran App.OnStart now so I could set the Form1IsVisible to false

And now you cannot see FormSample1 anymore

Now I run the App

1. I press the Form Visible Button and the form is back

But Michael, if its back why does it say No Item to Display

Its in Edit mode and I didnt load a record yet but its there now

Now if I click Form Visible Button Again its gone

Now I press the Navigate2 button

And I Navigate to ScreenSample2, you can see the #2 by the buttons

Now I press Navigate1 Button and go to ScreenSample1

No #2 by the buttons and I press the Form button and its back too

A super-fast simple way to navigate and make visible or invisible.

Here is my code for the switch:

)

Only the Set variable command works. The navigate functions arent working.

Lets try this and do one action please

1. Please show a screen shot of all your screens

2. Can you please show me the code inside one of the buttons that should Navigate?

3. Just for kicks

-Add a TextLabel to your screen please

-for the Text property please put MyActionDetailValue

-in the OnSelect of the Component, in the App side, at the Top put Set(MyActionDetailValue, ActionDetail);

Validation Question: (Are you adding the OnSelect code, from the App Side, not the Components side, meaning, before you populated the OnSelect, you are switching from the Component Tab, to the Screen App side, selecting the control and then populating the OnSelect (I think you said you are but double checking)

For each button in the components area OnSelect, I have:

PortalMenuComponent_test.OnSelect("HomeScreen")

PortalMenuComponent_test.OnSelect(Set(ViewTestForm, true))

PortalMenuComponent_test.OnSelect("MyRequestsScreen")

For the component on a Screen, the OnSelect is:
