Need powerapps form to open to the selected sharepoint list item rather than the browse gallery

Summary:
HI.  I created a SP issue list in online 365 and then created a powerapps form from the powerapps form template. The form, once opened works nicely.  The gallery works, display and edit forms work.  This is great once inside the form.  However, when a user opens the SharePoint list, they should be able to click on an item and the form opens to display the selected item fields prepopulated.

PowerApps form Structure:
BrowseScreen1
-BrowseGallery1
DetailScreen1
-DetailForm1
DetailScreenREVIEWALL
-DetailForm1_1

EditScreen1
-EditForm1_Request
SharePoint Integration

Expected Result:
When a user clicks a list item Title in SharePoint, the display form (not browse gallery) opens to the detail view with fields prepopulated from the selected list item.

Actual Result:
In the SharePoint list, when I click on the title of an item, the Browse Gallery screen displays to the list of items, from which to choose or search.  This is redundant.  User should be able to click the list item and the detailForm1 opens with fields filled in from the selected list item.

Steps Taken:
Tried using the suggestions from this post, unsuccessfully.

Related Issue:

  1. How can I set the edit form in SharePoint designer so that is used?
  2. Currently if a user mouses over an item and clicks the ... and then chooses Edit, the old edit form opens.  How can I reset this to the powerapps form?
  3. If a user checks an item and then chooses Edit from the menu, the quick edit screen opens, which I suppose is an option.  It's just not well supported in the browsers so editing in this mode doesnt work.

I'm hoping I don't have to scrap this form as it works so well once inside the gallery.  I just need to get past this issue.

Here are the integration actions:

OnNew - NewForm(EditForm1_Request)

OnEdit - EditForm(EditForm1_Request)

OnView - ViewForm(EditForm2_Review)

OnSave - SubmitForm(SharePointForm1)

OnCancel - ResetForm(SharePointForm1)

Someone else has had to have dealt with this very basic issue, which seems like it would be a given for functionality. Thanks for any help you can provide.

Hi @Anonymous,

First of all, I would like to confirm how did you created this PowerApps form. I'm not sure what did you mean by "powerapps form template".

Usually, when we talking about SharePoint list custom form, we mean the one created by following below steps:

  1. Open the list that you created, and then select New in the command bar.

The form opens and shows the fields that this topic specifies, plus Attachments.

  2. Near the top of the form, select Customize.

PowerApps Studio opens in the same browser tab.

  3. If the Welcome to PowerApps Studio dialog box opens, select Skip.

You can check if you are using custom form for this list under List settings > General settings > Form settings.

form-settings.png

By default, this custom form should look like below. It doesn't include gallery control and only have one Form control:

Capture.JPG

If you mean that you have customized this custom form, and added multiple other screens for Gallery control and screens for edit form and display form, then you actually only need one screen for displaying Gallery control, and one screen for SharePointForm1. You do not need other screens for different display mode of Form control. The display mode of Form would be set by the functions "EditForm, NewForm, SubmitForm, ResetForm, and ViewForm". Suppose that this form is placed in Screen1 and its name is "SharePointForm1". Then the formulas for SharePointIntegration should be:

SharePointIntegration.OnNew - Navigate(Screen1,None);NewForm(SharePointForm1)

SharePointIntegration.OnEdit - Navigate(Screen1,None);EditForm(SharePointForm1)

SharePointIntegration.OnView - Navigate(Screen1,None);ViewForm(SharePointForm1)

SharePointIntegration.OnSave - Navigate(Screen1,None);SubmitForm(SharePointForm1)

SharePointIntegration.OnCancel -Navigate(Screen1,None); ResetForm(SharePointForm1)

Mona

Hi Mona,
Thank you for responding.   Here are the steps I took:

  1. In the SharePoint list (not classic view) click Powerapps, Create app.  (There was no customize forms option in the drop-down).
  2. The screen opens to name the app.  I gave it a name.
  3. The next screen opens to building the app.
  4. Powerapps opens with the app already there with the browse, display, edit screens.
  5. I then added my two additional detail screens for display and edit.

All works great within the forms, but getting the correct record to open in the display or edit form on selection isn't working in any of the edit options.

Any assistance you can provide is very much appreciated! Thanks!
