New PDF Function -> Consider Page Breaks

Hi,

I am trying to create a pdf document applying the new pdf function within Power Apps. I have a gallery of images to be included in this pdf document. Overall the pdf function is working fine.

The only issue I am experiencing is that page breaks are not automatically considered meaning I have overlapping images between two pages in the pdf (see also attachments).

How can I avoid that images are split/overlapping between two pages and a page break is automatically considered if the image does not fit completely on one page?

I am having the same issue, below is my code and it always ends up cutting gallery records in half.  Does anyone have a work around for this?

Office365Outlook.SendEmailV2(
User().Email,
"I&TI Statements",
"PDF From I&TI App",
{
Attachments: Table(
{
Name: "I&TI.pdf",
ContentBytes: PDF(
'galI&TIReport_1',
{
ExpandContainers: true,
Orientation: PaperOrientation.Portrait,
Size: PaperSize.A4,
DPI: 100
}
)
}
)
}

Hi Guys - I came across this problem and I think I solved it before I went looking for a solution.  It's not pretty - so I went looking for a nicer solution - Given there aren't any.  I figured I would post my ugly solution logic at least.  Working for my first page cut over perfectly.

We are printing a vertical container with a vertical Edit Form in there.   I have some dynamic height multi line text boxes with a DataCard Height value of Eg.

DataCardKey63.Y + DataCardKey63.Height + DataCardValue50.Height + 10

 and the DataValue50 height formula is

We also have DataCards that are visible or not visible depending on the content.  So that increases the complexity hence requirement for an If(DataCard.Visible, DataCard.Height, 0) to return the height of each DataCard above the selected data card.

Single line items I have a uniform height of 39.

My Portrait screen has a height of 1123.

I used excel to build a list of these just to save the typing.  And I created this for each DataCard so I have this If function to get me the height of all data cards above me.

'DataCard1''DataCard1'.Height.Visible57If('DataCard1'.Visible,'DataCard1'.Height,0) +

Then In a nutshell - I set the height on each Item to calculate the visible height of all data cards above + ThisItems real height Ie. 39 + next items real height and see if that is less than 1123.  If so set height to real height.  If not that means the next item would be cut - so set height to (1123 - visible height of all data cards above).  So this makes the item fill to the end of the page.  So the next item starts at top of next page.

As I said - its horrible.  Has like 1000 if statements and additions of additions but they are not nested too deep.  So yeah it works so far for me.  When I say a real height (use a static or generated of the content height.  Not DataCard.Height or you would create a circular reference i would think.

So I hope this helps someone out there.  I only have a couple of pages to split so its not an issue for me - but with more pages you could try using a use a 1ms Timer and a ContextVariable to go through each DataCard.Visible heights.  Add them until the page is over full, roll back 1 and make it fill the page.  Then reset then keep going and do page 2.  (effectively a Do Until loop).

Hello Everyone,

After hours of researching and experimenting I think I have found a workaround for the text split/overlapping between two pages :

First of all, make sure that you are using one of the Screen Templates for printing :

For me, the labels caused the problem. Other components worked good with the PDF function.

After using the Page Tempate For print, make sure you fill everything inside the automatically created "PrintContainer" inside of the page.

Then comes the workaround : Make sure you enable "Wrap" for every single label component inside of the PrintContainer.

Somehow, when you disable wrap, the text will be split wrongly between two pages. But with wrap enabled, it works correctly. If you have problems with other Power Apps components, I would suggest to use labels only for PDF printing.

I hope this will be helpful for you.

Edit: I have also noticed by Default PDF Function prints the content of the given Power Apps Element with 2006px per page, when you have a Power Apps Element width of 1366px. This means, every 2006px in App is one page in PDF. In basis of this, I have generated the following formula, to move the element, which stays between 2 pages, a little bit to the bottom. This needs to be applied to all visible elements inside of the PDF-printed PowerApps component.

Page OnVisible

Set(PDFPagePixelSize,2006);

Property: PaddingTop

With({PDFPositionFromPageBottom : PDFPagePixelSize - Mod((Self.Y),PDFPagePixelSize)},
If(Self.Height > PDFPositionFromPageBottom, Mod(PDFPositionFromPageBottom, Self.Size)))
