No parts of Edit Form appear in Preview Mode

Afternoon all. New question.

How do I fix an Edit Form that doesn't appear at all when the app is in preview mode?

To be clear, absolutely NOTHING appears, labels, fields, data...   zip. "Visible" is toggled "On" for all elements in the Form. When the app navigates to the form it's a completely blank screen And I know it's arriving at the right screen because when I take it out of preview mode the Edit Form appears once again as it should.

What am I missing here?

Thanks

@Jesaynt

Item should not be blank, that's why nothing is happening.

Try to put something in for Item. For example, the first record of your data source to test

First(yourDataSource)

@Jesaynt

Click on the Form control in the Tree view on the left side (the whole Form itself, not the datacards inside of it) and check the below:

1. What's the DefaultMode property of this Form control?

2. What's the Item property of this Form control?

@poweractivate

DefaultMode is "Edit"

Item is blank

That works. That comes off as so unintuitive to me. I was expecting the labels to appear with blank fields at the very least. Thanks!

Now I'm off to figuring out how to prepopulate said edit form with what was selected in a gallery. =]

@Jesaynt

Here's the answer in a spoiler tag below in case it helps and if you need the answer, just click the below to reveal it

Spoiler
For Item property of Form control put something like
//pseudocode - adjust below as needed
Gallery1.Selected.Value

@poweractivate

I tried xxxxx.Selected.Value but it tells me that "Value" isn't recognized. And nothing of what Intellisense suggests seems correct - at least according to my own intuition, which has failed me already.

It's hard to keep all the rules straight regarding how to construct the formulas. =/

@Jesaynt

Try just

Gallery1.Selected

does it work?

Bear in mind that the string I mention up there was put into the "Item" property of the Form control, not the individual datacards. Is that where I'm going wrong?

Disregard as I discovered there is no Item property for the cards or inputs.

@Jesaynt

It's possible some things are being done OnVisible of the screen.

If so

1. Create a Blank screen.

2. In the Editor click the blank screen, then click the screen with your form on it. This is the only way to fire it in Preview mode or in the Editor, this is not done automatically in the Editor like in the live published app.

To check if there was anything there, click the Screen on the tree view, then check the OnVisible property. If there was nothing there, disregard above.

Or

In case that you have anything for the App OnStart property do the below:

1. Click on App in the Tree view (left side).

2. Click Ellipses

3. Click Run OnStart

poweractivate_0-1664872794178.png

The above is done automatically only in the live published app, you must do the above each time to fire OnStart in the Editor.

To check if there was anything there, click App on the tree view, then check the OnStart property. If there was nothing there, disregard above.

See if it helps in case @Jesaynt
