Not getting the right data type from sharepoint list

Hello,

In my SharePoint list I have columns like 'Reserved From' and 'Reserved To'. Both have the type date and time. With ForAll I loop over a collection and compare it with the data from the SharePoint list. But the following error is displayed. 2022-11-09 18_01_30-Power Apps.png

The translated error is "Invalid argument type. Expecting a Number, Date, Time, DateTime".

As mentioned the type in the SharePoint list is DateTime or not?

Hi @Anonymous ,

Can you please post the full code in Text and also where you are using it. You have confirmed the two columns in Reservations are data/time ?

The error would indicate that 'Reserved From' and 'Reserved To' are text fields. If Reservations is the data source for the SharePoint list then go to the settings page for that list in SharePoint and verify the column type as @WarrenBelz mentions above.

Another quick test you can do is the DateValue() with 'Reserved From' and 'Reserved To' in your formula and see if that resolves the error. If it does, then that would be a good indication that it is a text value.

For example, change Reservations.'Reserved From' to DateValue(Reservations.'Reserved From') and change Reservations.'Reserved To' to DateValue(Reservations.'Reserved To')

I have already tried this and the following error occurred:

Here is a screenshot from the sharepoint list

This is the code snippet I am using the If Statement @WarrenBelz

ForAll(
    col_SelectedResource;

//Check if Resource is reserved
    If(ThisRecord.resourceName in Reservations.'Resource Name' && DateValue(Reservations.'Reserved From')  >= ThisRecord.startTime && Reservations.'Reserved To' <= ThisRecord.endTime ||                      Reservations.'Reserved From' <= ThisRecord.endTime && Reservations.'Reserved To' >= ThisRecord.endTime;
//END OF TEST

    Patch(
        Reservations;
        Defaults(Reservations);
        {
            Title: User().FullName & " " & ThisRecord.resourceName;
            'Resource Name': ThisRecord.resourceName;
            'Reserved From': ThisRecord.startTime;
            'Reserved From Text': Text(
                ThisRecord.startTime;
                "dddd, mmmm d, yyyy hh:mm:ss"
            );
            'Reserved To': ThisRecord.endTime;
            'Reserved To Text': Text(
                endTime;
                "dddd, mmmm d, yyyy hh:mm:ss"
            );
            Location: ThisRecord.resourceLocation;
            'Reserved By': {
                '@odata.type': "#Microsoft.Azure.Connectors.SharePoint.SPListExpandedUser";
                Claims: "i:0#.f|membership|" & User().Email;
                Department: "";
                DisplayName: User().FullName;
                Email: User().Email;
                JobTitle: "";
                Picture: ""
            }
        }
    )
)
)

Hi @Anonymous ,

I can see  DateValue() at the top referring to a Date field and it also needs some bracketing. Also I tend to use the As statement when patching a Gallery, so try this

ForAll(
   col_SelectedResource As aPatch;
   If(
      aPatch.resourceName in Reservations.'Resource Name' &&
      (
         Reservations.'Reserved From' >= aPatch.startTime &&
         Reservations.'Reserved To' <= aPatch.endTime
      ) ||
      (
         Reservations.'Reserved From' <= aPatch.endTime &&
         Reservations.'Reserved To' >= aPatch.endTime
      );
      Patch(
         Reservations;
         Defaults(Reservations);
         {
            Title: User().FullName & " " & aPatch.resourceName;
            'Resource Name': aPatch.resourceName;
            'Reserved From': aPatch.startTime;
            'Reserved From Text': Text(aPatch.startTime; "dddd, mmmm d, yyyy hh:mm:ss");
            'Reserved To': aPatch.endTime;
            'Reserved To Text': Text(aPatch.endTime;"dddd, mmmm d, yyyy hh:mm:ss");
            Location: aPatch.resourceLocation;
            'Reserved By':
            {
               '@odata.type': "#Microsoft.Azure.Connectors.SharePoint.SPListExpandedUser";
               Claims: "i:0#.f|membership|" & User().Email;
               Department: "";
               DisplayName: User().FullName;
               Email: User().Email;
               JobTitle: "";
               Picture: ""
            }
         }
      )
   )
)

I cannot however see any reason that the date fields mis-match assuming they are dates in your collection - have you checked this ?

I have defined the variable like this. After that it is written into the collection.

Set(
    var_StartTime;
    DateTimeValue(
        Text(
            var_SelectedStartDate;
            DateTimeFormat.ShortDate
        ) & " " & Time(
            Hour(cmp_TimePicker_startTime_ChooseTime.Value);
            Minute(cmp_TimePicker_startTime_ChooseTime.Value);
            Second(cmp_TimePicker_startTime_ChooseTime.Value)
        )
    )
)

I still get the same error as above: "The translated error is "Invalid argument type. Expecting a Number, Date, Time, DateTime" for Reservation.'Reserved From' and Reservation.'Reserved To'

@Anonymous ,

varStartTime is not in the code you supplied.

Here is the code where I write it into the collection

Collect(
    col_SelectedResource;
    {
        resourceName: ThisItem.Title;
        startTime: var_StartTime;
        endTime: var_EndTime;
        resourceLocation: ThisItem.Location
    }
)

Hi @Anonymous ,

That is because you have set this one as Text - keep the whole lot to date/time format like this (also check varSelectedStartDate is a date, not Text)

Set(
    var_StartTime;
    var_SelectedStartDate +
    Time(
		Hour(cmp_TimePicker_startTime_ChooseTime.Value);
        Minute(cmp_TimePicker_startTime_ChooseTime.Value);
        Second(cmp_TimePicker_startTime_ChooseTime.Value)
    )
)

I changed it on all of my values. I am still getting the same error message.

Isn't there something going on with SharePoint?

Because I am getting a "table" from Reservations.'Reserved From' and Reservations.'Reserved To'.
